Scare Package [Blu-ray]

The production is more or less an anthology connected by Chad's (Jeremy King) VHS rental shop. The stories are spoofs on what appear to be both specific horror films and generic ones. The initial" Halloween" spoof is easily recognized, others are more difficult unless pointed out. I would recommend a look at IMDB movie trivia section prior to watching. There is really no such thing as a plot spoiler for the film. Black man dies first, final girl is a virgin. Jason never dies. I really expected clowns and zombies but they did not appear.Fun film.Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. or zero breasts as Joe Bob Briggs might say.

The people that are leaving negative reviews just don't get the concept of this movie. It's supposed to be over the top, it's supposed to be cheesy, it's supposed to look low budget, it's supposed to have lame jokes, jump scares, and effects. That's the whole point of this movie! Think back to horror movies in the 80s. But I guess some people will NEVER understand the point of the movie. With that said, I liked this movie. It's cheesy but fun. I'd recommend watching this movie IF, AND ONLY IF, you don't over think this movie. There's no hidden agenda, it is what it is. If you don't like cheesy, don't watch it. THAT simple.

I did NOT expect much from this movie. Honestly. It was A LOT funnier and A LOT better-acted than you might imagine. Very gory, very cheesy, very silly. AWESOME!

Confession. My daughter is in one segment and this why I bought it, but I did enjoy it. If you like horror, more movie blood than you imagine and satire....

Unfortunately, that formula, even with an iconic horror classic trope/theme to focus on each segment, gets tedious over seven segments.There is a lot to love, and if you've imbibed a bit, then your enjoyment will likely be greater.And that Joe Bob Briggs Cameo! (I was given the original Joe Bob's Drive In book as a gift back in 1985). The guy rocks and was my favorite part of the movie.My quibbles:* Having the first short before the wrap-around story intro was innovative but confusing.* The over-the-top gore get's repetitive.* It's too long.Drive-in Academy Award for the special effects team who must have been very very busy!

Seriously, I don't understand the negative reviews for Scare Package. This film is so much fun. It pokes fun at and celebrates the horror genre. Really great effects. Over the top and gory. Not to mention really funny. The acting is pretty solid. The movie looks great. What a fun ride. Really, I can't say enough great things about Scare Package. I'd say if you are into serious depressing horror like Hereditary, you may not like this. But if you like movies similar to Evil Dead 2, Dead Alive, and Tucker and Dale vs Evil, you'll love this movie. I actually think it gets better and better as the film goes on. Give this one a chance if you want a fun horror movie.

You can tell all these people appreciate and love the source material for these "shorts" as well as the over-arching storyline!! Well executed and great practical effects!!The Joe-Bob parts alone make this worth watching!!

"You are the personification of what the internet did for film criticism!"Like Scream and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, "Scare Package" is more of a wry comedic "Horror Anthology" that dissects the horror genre (even down to the "Post Modern Feminist Slasher Revenge Body Horror" ala Into the Dark's "Treehouse" entry, or some of Etheria Film Festival entries). Being self aware however doesn't always mean you're free from curse of the trope.

if you like your gore and blood movies with no cgi this is for youand some of the jokes are pretty funnyhorror films forever moreand for all seasons too
