I had been contemplating getting one of these for a long time. When I recently purchased a lot of yarn, I decided I would give it a try. I cannot believe I waited so long to get one!! This is an amazing must-have gadget for anyone who uses a lot of yarn. It makes the yarn more compact and easier to store than if you simply rolled it into a ball yourself. I was able to get a lot more yarn stored into the space I had because they stack so well. I have done over 150 skeins of yarn and this product worked like a charm each time. It will even do crochet thread if you want to get it off the cardboard rolls. You have to keep some tension on it with one hand, holding it out of the way or it will get tangled up on the winder. It will do a regular size skein of yarn no problem and ends up about the size of a roll of toilet tissue. The "super size" skeins will need to be divided into two but I simply estimated about where half was, cut it and started the next half. I used a small piece of tape on the end and tucked it under a few strands before taking it off the winder.

Yes, it comes with virtually no instructions, but assembly is pretty straightforward. (I initially attached both of the two flyers included because of the diagram on the paper that came with the unit. Then I came back here, saw the product picture, realized that I only needed one flyer, and removed the second one. The flyer is that arm that's sticking out right next to the cone.) The winder works quickly and quietly, and I am loving it! It took a little over a month to arrive, so I had to be patient; but I think it's worth it, especially since other large yarn ball winders cost about twice what I paid for this.

It is a little confusing to put together at first, but once you catch on to how to do it the rest of the build is very quick and easy. Using this winder has been a life saver on space! I kept borrowing my best friend's one until I finally had to purchase one myself.

not the easiest to use, but with a lot of patience and time it will get the job done. It doesn't fit any yarn over 5 oz, so you have to break up full rolls into a few cakes, but still it gets the job done.

Overall I am happy with this yarn ball winder. The instructions were pretty terrible, it took me a long time to figure out how to put some of it together because the instructions don't really explain everything. However, once it is together, this winder works well. I haven't had it too long, so we'll see in the future how it holds up.

There were mixed reviews on this ball winder. I chose to go with the positive. Too, bad, now I'm having to take this junky thing apart and go through the hassle to return it. I followed the instructions, even looking on line, I tries several times to make this work but, that never happened. First off the spindle would not stay put, it would not line up with the groves. Result....flying spindles. The yarn would thread through for a couple of turns then all would go to pieces. I'm happy for the ones who are having luck with this thing but I choose to join the ones who find this ball winder worthless.

I like it but it is frustrating when the yarn get caught under the gear. Didn't get any assebleming instructions had to look it up on the internet. but it makes the cakes very nice.

Box it shipped in was severely damaged. The plastic pieces that holds the arms was either on too tight, or skewed to the point that once the arms were installed, it didn't move. Directions to install were poor and not much in the way of troubleshooting. Returning the product.
