I bought 3 of these sturdy little boxes as gifts to finish for my grandkids. They are beautiful and a great value for the money! They will be a wonderful surprise at Christmas, as they are bigger than I had hoped for! I did however notice that several days later, one of the boxes cracked on the bottom part of the box, the entire length. Two days after that, the lid did the same thing! I still love the boxes, but now have to come up with an alternative to covering this box, instead of painting it The cracks run lengthwise so there is no way to repair them by glueing. I still would recommend these boxes, but order them in plenty of time to make sure that the wood doesn't split.

I generally do not purchase an item that has not been reviewed, but made an exception for this box as it was the perfect size for my needs and so reasonably priced. I was not disappointed. The box is well made and took stain easily (the light splotch on the top front is my error). I was worried about staining raw wood without a conditioner first, but it doesn't seem to have been a problem. I spray painted the hinge and clasps. I've done that before with drawer pulls without any problems. This time though I rushed to get it done between rain storms and did not properly clean the items first. I think I might regret that, but that is on me. The box is strong, well sized, well made and with a light sand and clean ready for it's transformation. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm not.

So AFTER I spent a couple nights wood burning the box for my Godson’s birthday, and had the stain in hand ready to apply first coat, I see a crack on the bottom panel... end to end. The wood split. Wasn’t a hairline crack either.After this... and after the stain, after the shellac... 3 different cracks appear front right side corner over the finger joints. 1” apart from each other going down the joints and spanning a few inches long along the front and the right side.This was all just too bad of quality as the original problem that I shrugged off was upon delivery, front right clasp/lock fell right off as I breathed on it. Of the 20 screws/pre drilled holes for the clasps and hinges, half were stripped. Meaning the screw had no grip and did not hold the item. Had to replace all the screws. With bigger screws so it had some teeth.Possible I was unlucky? Sure. But I wouldn’t risk it if I were you. Unless you can wait a week to see if your box is going to crack out. Shame. I had high hopes.

I transformed this box into a nice vanity box with dark stain and lacquer outside and white gloss enamel inside. I am an experienced woodworker and finisher, so here are a few details from that perspective:The grain quality isn’t very good. Not a deal breaker for many. And I knew that it could be the case. Thankfully, the best pieces are glued to the front and top (as it should be). There was a little glue squeeze-out that was left to dry at the inside joint, so staining the inside is not doable. There were also a few other spots where glue or epoxy was scraped to the surface level but filled the wood pores and prevented stain from penetrating without extra work.All that said, I’m not upset. It got done the way I wanted and since I don’t have the space to set up my shop right now, it’s all good. I’m probably a little pickier than most. Be careful to not torque the screws down as the hardware bends very easily.

This box and lid was not completely square. I do a fair amount of woodworking but didn’t have time to make my own box. I cut thin cedar boards to line the interior and had to make adjustments to my cuts because the inside of the box was not square.

pine box is so nice. Going to use my wood burning kit and then strain it. Built very good and strong. I'm going to use it for my son's remains. I added lock latch to match hardware that it came with. The hardware on this box is top of the line. I will buy from this company again.

So I didn't read the dimensions properly and was pleasantly surprised at how big the box was! The wood is unfinished but smooth, so no splinters and really nice quality! Works great for pyrography!

Update: I was messaged by the company asking if I wanted a new box or a refund. Since the box I had works fine and I would never just throw something functional away, I opted for a refund. This is the first business to offer me a refund or new product without a return and no questions asked. I’m impressed and will give them another try if I need another box in the future.I really needed a box for storage and while I kept this because I didn’t want the hassle of returning and finding another, it has split wood in several places, high splinter potential, and the clasps don’t line up! Majorly overpriced for the quality.

i bought this larger box for its size but for its quality also. i take care to recreate this container, add my artwork to it, it will become a heirloom and will be around for many years. i love the dovetail edges. i will buy more in future

Good guality workmanship and materials. Well worth the price.
