No content
This books utter rubbish. Zero content. Only questions like: how to care for my newly panted seeds: Answer: Find the desired seed, plant in appropriate soil, and take care of it in an appropriate way. If it doesn't work, ask you local garden centre for help. Again, this book is full of generic questions with no usable answers. What a waste of paper.

Recent research reveals what has been going on in the soil for millenia.
This is my kind of book, with plenty of photos and colour diagrams. I loved the illustration of a plant with its leaves, stem and root branches all covered with beneficial bacteria and fungi. It couldn't be said better in words. This is the crux of the book, the way that microscopic life drives plant and soil fertility. Elaine Ingham is the renowned soil scientist who has done so much to bring to our attention the soil food web. I think a lot of her work has been directed towards farmers and other commercial growers but here is a book for the home gardener. Well worth reading. Be prepared to upgrade your gardening methods as a result. If Elaine sometimes sounds just a little bit bossy, don't worry. Elaine know what she is talking about; she has done the research.

Not a clear book
Didn't give any practical tips I could use. Not a useful book. The concept and theory are very good but if fails to be h elpful.
