Q: What does soak off gel lacquer in the product description mean? Would typical nail polish remover work?

All "gel" polishes require 100% acetone to remove, which is pretty much sold anywhere (I buy mine at Sally's or Walmart). However, you can't just soak a cotton swab and gently rub your fingernails to remove the polish. You must pour a small amount in a porcelain dish (I use 2 small Corningware ramekins - one for each hand) and soak them for 10-15 minutes. It's a longer process to remove, but SO worth it for long-lasting, shiny and durable nail color! And I'm sure you know this, but remember gel color is typically a 3 polish step - i.e. Base Coat, Color Polish, and Top Coat (and requires a UV or LED lamp).

It has to be a light designed for gel nails.
