Bleed Like Me

I feel like the epilogue should have addressed the horrors of a relationship like this that is rooted in deep co dependency with Brooks clearly showing signs of BPD. It is a sad story of abuse but doesn't properly use the platform of the traumatizing fictional story to explain itself so that it might help people. It's a trigger fest but kids in these relationships aren't going to recognize themselves in the extremes of the story and then change there should be less of the messed up relationship and more of the main character figuring out what happened and healing.

Wow... Is there a part 2? I feel so invested in these characters lives. I need to know more!! Wheres Ali? How are the boys? Does Ricardo love Gannon? ( well obvi but still)... Will mom date Dennis and reinvent the store?will the boys start working there on weekends? I want to read it as it all plays out!

Michael Brooks, a quirky young man, steps into her life and woos her. She’s resistant at first, but they fall into a deep, dark, passionate relationship.Gannon is a cutter. With all the problems swirling around her, the touch of a knife relieves her. Brooks has his own scars, so he understands what Gannon wants. The bloodletting scenes are not easy to read, particularly towards the end of the book.Desir created characters who are self-destructive, flawed, and haunting. Reading about their backgrounds was heartbreaking. I had to have tissues on hand, especially during the last half. I enjoyed the author’s first novel and I’m glad she didn’t disappoint for the second. The author is a master at edgy, contemporary YA.

If you're looking for an emotional romance read this is for you.

I really liked this book. Ahhh! To good. I've read it three times and each time I cried. If your looking for a quick read this is the book for you. If your looking for a happy go-lucky books, don't read this book. It's dark and sometimes cringe worthy. The writing is good but sometimes it's a little weird. All in all be ready to have emotional pain.

Loved this book. Great writing, and I found myself rooting for Gannon and Brooks despite their codependence. A blunt, raw ending that left me stunned.

Couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I felt like I was Gannon. Didn't want it to end.

Great book!!

I really enjoyed this, a tale of teenagers who just get each other. It's what we really crave isn't it, someone who just gets everything. The past & the future. I read it in two days, I just clung to the characters wondering if they'd make out together, let's just say my heart broke at the end. Strongly recommend this if romance & tragedy is your thing, I know I'll be reading it again.

Hé bien, je vous le dit, ce livre ne devrait pas s'appeler Bleed like me, mais Stupidité.Bien que Bleed like me corresponde tout aussi bien.Ma note est un peu rude, mais je pense qu'elle est plutôt justifiée. Il y a des parties que j'ai aimé, mais beaucoup qui ne m'ont pas plu.L'histoire en elle-même est poignante. Il est difficile d'y entrer, de ressentir une certaine compassion, mais une fois qu'on l'a - et encore, elle n'est peut-être pas garantie, je me suis juste retrouvée un poil dans son histoire - on la sent passer.Tout ça est dû aux personnages. Gannon - l'héroine et narratrice - est une fille que je n'ai pas su comprendre, je n'ai pas su la cerner, et elle m'a parue très très plate. Au fil du livre, j'ai réussi à voir les conséquences de cette platitude, mais ça a rendu le début très très dur. En gros, j'ai eu du mal à l'aimer, et encore, je n'ai fini que par ressentir de la compassion.Brooks - le garçon - est tout aussi plat à mes yeux. Manque de charme, dangerosité qui ne fait ni chaud ni froid, aucune attractivité. Mais était-ce réellement voulu?Christa Desir a écrit un roman, que j'ai beaucoup aimé et qui m'a beaucoup touché : Fault Line. J'avais confiance en son écriture, et j'étais sûre d'être touchée par l'émotion qu'elle avait su mettre dans ce roman. Malheureusement, les sentiments et émotions de Gannon ne sont pas du tout ressortis sur au moins la première moitié du livre.Je ne ressentais rien, si ce n'est qu'une consternation par la stupidité dont elle faisait preuve.Mais elle et Brooks ne sont pas les seuls à me laisser outrée par leur agissement. Le pire était les parents, leur éducation, leur manque d'attention.CHERS PARENTS ET FUTURS PARENTS, n'interdisez pas formellement vos enfants à faire quelque chose ou voir quelqu'un, vous ne ferez que les perdre au moment fatal.True Story.Surveillez de loin, mais ne faites pas cette connerie. Accordez de l'attention et de l'amour, sérieusement.Sérieux.Je ressors donc de cette lecture mitigée, touchée par une histoire poignante et une fin déchirante quand même, mais pas convaincue par les personnages. L'histoire est tellement interessante et bouleversante, c'était vraiment dommage d'avoir si peu d'émotion et des personnages plats.PS : je déconseille cette lecture aux âmes sensibles, notamment lorsque ça touche les animaux. Il n'y a qu'un passage, mais il est très douloureux.
