I have been looking for this drum with its sound for years. I will treasure it for the rest of my life. Even my Macaw likes the sound dancing side to side to its rhythm.It’s beautiful. Superb craftsmanship.

Updated review after several years of hard useThis drum has been through many seasons and more drum circles than I can count and still going strong.The sound is spectacular, so much better than most of the other drums.Its so easy to get all the nuances and tones out of this drum.Can't recommend it highly enough, if you're learning or pro, this drum is worth the money.I played my "learner" drum this week and it hurt my hands playing it.This drum doesn't hurt my hands, even after several hours of continuous playing.You owe it to yourself to get one ;)--------------------------------------the original reviewI copied this from an earlier review but this is the same drum.This drum came ready go and very well tuned.The sound is amazing, a real lead djembe instrument instead of the usual rubbish that is increasingly common. It's easy to very extremely loud but also just as easy to get all the nuances while playing quietly.Support the African Heartwood Project but make sure this is coming direct from the supplier, not "fulfilled by amazon" to make sure the packing is good enough to protect it in transport.My first drum was damaged in transit which is a real shame given the obvious amount of work that went into it.They replaced it immediately and I've been playing it almost every week ever since.Still a wonderful drum which allows you to inject all the style and finesse you want to add.
