Lutein gel eye capsule
I had never heard of zeaxanthin so I was curious to try it alongside lutein. The supply of thirty softgels look like oval nuts or beans. The taste and smell are almost non existent, so that makes them very easy on the tongue. I bit into one for more taste, and still very mild, but had a dark orangy appearance. I researched zeaxanthin, and found it is in many dark leafed vegetables, so well worth taking with lutein. I have been taking this for maybe twenty days now, and do not think it is enough time to promote this item, but it is really worth a try for clear healthy eyes.

Quality product
Bricker Labs Vision MattersIt is obviously difficult to evaluate a nutritional supplement in a short period of time without any objective scientific measurements. If you’ve suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD), you should definitely discuss with your doctor.I’ve been taking Lutein/Zeaxanthin (L/Z) supplements because of some claims of protective effects. I decide to dig deeper and check out some past research to help me decide whether this is a good product.***********************Background information ***********************Many years of medical research support the importance of Lutein/Zeaxanthin (L/Z) in maintaining visual functions and slowing the development of AMD (ref. A). L/Z is abundant in green leafy vegetables, nuts and egg yolk. It’s estimated that the effective levels of L/Z , through diet alone, are 10 mg and 5 mg per day. Older adults in America , on average, consume 1-3 mg L/Z (ref. B). However, the bioavailability of L/Z depends on other factors - for example grinding or cooking foods (which may release carotenoids from the food matrix) and consuming L or Z with a fat source increases blood response (ref. A).Because the long term effects of consuming large quantity of L/Z are not known, the authors of this article (Ref. A) state -“In summary, L and Z intakes of 5 to 6 mg/day are associated with lowering the risk of developing AMD, and supplemental intakes at 12 mg/day (in the absence of beta-carotene but in the presence of other antioxidants) slowed AMD progression in people who already had intermediate AMD. Thus, a prudent approach until further data are available may be a public health strategy aimed at increasing the consumption of lutein-rich vegetables and fruits, moderately increasing egg consumption in people without AMD, and promoting the daily use of antioxidant supplements containing 12 mg L and Z in people with intermediate AMD.”Another study (AREDS II, Ref-C) also shows the benefits of individuals taking lutein/zeaxanthin (10 mg/2mg) + omega-3 FA supplements.******************** Contents of Vision Matters ********************Now, I would be able to compare these facts to the “Vision Matters” Natural Zeaxanthin and Lutein (by Bricker Labs). Each soft gel contains 4 mg Z, 12 mg L and 470 mg extra virgin olive oil. The amount of L/Z (FloraGlo) in each gel is close to the recommended dosage in literature (see above). Extra virgin olive oil contains polyunsaturated fats and rich vitamin E. Most importantly, olive oil facilitates the absorption and transport of (see above). The L/Z is from natural sources, like marigold flower extract and paprika fruit extract. I decided to crack open a soft gel and tasted its “natural” ingredients. This clearly is not meant to be a scientific analysis. The crimson red oily contents taste surprisingly good, maybe even a hint of paprika (see picture)When comparing prices, the unit price of Vision Matters is a bit higher to the vast number of L/Z pills in Amazon. However, when I narrow the search to the correct daily recommended dosage with all natural ingredients, the unit price of this product falls within the norm. FloraGlo is the most commonly used brand in L/Z research (but not used by every manufacturer), although at least one research showed another brand achieved the same effects. In summary, this 100% nature, GMO free, and gluten free vision health product appears to follow a safe formulary and uses a well-trusted formula of L/Z.RefA- Mares J. They made a difference
I didn't notice a taste or flavor at all, they were easy to swallow and after taking for three months I noticed a real difference. At three weeks I thought my eye sight seemed better wasn't sure if it was this product but I'm sure now. I quit taking them when I went out of town for three weeks and realized they are really helping me. I will continue using this product.

Not sure yet....
I have been taking this supplement following the serving size indicated. It has been about 3 weeks and have not noticed any changes. With regards to the actual product, I like that it's non-GMO. It's doesn't matter to me that it's gluten-free or dairy-free, but I understand for some, those are important as well. This softgel is small and easy to swallow.
