Stuff You Should Know: An Incomplete Compendium of Mostly Interesting Things

Waiting for next book from Josh and Chuck. It's stuff we all should know. It's hard for me to do reviews on books as I only read from authors I know. I am currently on my third re-through of their podcast starting from 2008-2024. Book is, as podcasts, comprehensive, interesting, full coverage, and interesting.

I'm a huge fan of the Stuff You Should Know podcast amd finally got around to getting a copy. It's awesome! It reads just like the podcast plays. Each chapter is like an episode of the show, so you don't have to read it from front to back. If you see a chapter you really want to read first, you can, and the rest of the book will still make sense. My 11 year old even loved this book. Our 2 favorite chapters were the Murphy Bed and How to Get Lost and Stay Lost. If you like the book, check out the podcast, too!

I love the podcast....it's a nightly routine for four of us at our house.But the book, so much to say! First, I love it*. Did you know Andy Warhol was shot by an anti-men crusader? That Frank Lloyd's Wright wife and stepkids were murdered along with workers? Me neither! I thought of myself as up on pop culture but lots of details here I never knew. I mean, because of these guys we celebrate DB Cooper Jump Day. We have a list of band names. We love their podcast and the way this book brings details to light in an airy yet deep way.*There's just one thing that bugs me, and it's really no ones fault. It's just the podcast is made perfect by their OT remarks, the little tangents they get into. Sometimes just a word or phrase that one of them pops up with that fits in with the material but makes you laugh out loud. Can't really do that in a book. So they kept the general idea by footnoting those remarks. Little words or phrases in footnotes. It doesn't work the same. I can't just read, I have to constantly stop and look done at the footnote and go back to where I was. It becomes annoying. But I love it anyway.

I like this style of books, there are so many interesting things in life that are simply taken for granted. The authors are witty, I've never listened to their podcast, and the book is funny. But take it as a light read, a distraction to life's real challenging topics, and just enjoy the read.. not really looking for a real lesson on life.

GREAT book! Well-written, cool illustrations, and lots of fun subtext. If you are a fan of the podcast, you will hear Josh’s and Chuck’s voices as you read. Such a fun and interesting book! Great to read and end, or to just pick up for 15 minutes to read one of the fun topics. Really cool book to keep out, visitors love flipping through it. Beautiful quality. The cover, the pages which have a soft almost newspaper-like texture, the careful print and illustrations... High quality all the way! Thanks for the awesomeness, Chuck and Josh!!!

Every part of this book is exactly what I wanted. Facts and Stories told in a witty, laid back manner. More than enough content to justify the selling price.I bought the Hardcover version and the book is of great quality, the paper stock, binding, everything.Definitely buy this for anyone you know who likes either the podcast or any type of educational entertainment. My significant other and I enjoy some quiet reading time and with this book I kept stopping every few minutes wanting to discuss what I had just read.I'm telling you, absolutely phenomenal, great job Josh and Chuck.

An amusing but actually quite educational book. Even though I was raised USCG and already know what to do if my car is sinking underwater. I've gifted several copies, with happy results. Recommended.

We love the podcast of SYSK and we enjoyed this book. Easy and quick to read.

A friend referred this to me and it definitely gives good details on many interesting topics.

Have you ever read a text and already knew how the person who sent it would sound like if they had read it aloud? That's how you'll feel with the book. I'm a fairly new SYSK fan and stumbled over the podcast by accident almost a year ago. Of course it's different to read about a topic than hearing Josh and Chuck doing their thing, so you shouldn't start reading the book with the idea that it's going to be JUST LIKE SYSK EPISODES. However, I've had good laughs and everything was as informative as ever. Plus, with every purchase of their book you'll help Josh and Chuck make their dream come true by having a (I think New York Times) bestselling book. Be the change you want to see in the world!
