Grip Rite Prime Guard MAXS62690 Type 17 Point Deck Screw Number 8 by 1-5/8-Inch T20 Star Drive, Stainless Steel, 5-Pound Tub

These are lovely screws and make a fence into an art work (OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but...). I pulled out the ugly grey polymer-coated exterior screws from my nice clean new white cedar fence and replaced them with these ss screws. The appearance is much improved. I screwed the pales to the gates in three rows of pairs of screws across the gates. The hardware gleams in the light and it just looks awesome.Only drawback is that ss is soft, so these are not for high torque applications. In a box of 750, I've found about 5 warped screws so far. Chalk up as a loss, but this happens with boxes of conventional screws where the head is messed up.Application was for a front yard fence. I wouldn't bother for a backyard fence because the cost is much higher for ss, and no one is passing judgment on your backyard fence.

The screws look good, hold up in the weather and hold decking snug as a bug.*Being stainless steel they can be a bit soft so be careful no to hit another metal object and avoid removing and reinstalling them to often. Other than that, a good quality stainless steel wood screw!If you can get the 5lb tub under $40.00 it’s a good deal. (3/7/21)

This Grip Rite Prime Guard MAXS62690 Type 17 Point Deck Screw Number 8 by 1-5/8-Inch T20 Star Drive, Stainless Steel, 5-Pound Tub is the real deal. I tried a regular strength magnet and a extra strong magnet and the screws do not stick. This is real stainless steel, unlike some scam stainless steel items that stick to magnets big time. I will buy stainless steel products from Grip Rite anytime. Love it.

The stainless screws were just what I needed to finish the railing around my deck. Really like the star head design.

These screws worked as they were expected. I particularly like the star drive because it has better contact inserting or removing the screw, therefore less damage to the screw head.

Using on new wood fence. Screws drive easily and have strong grip.

Great screws for coastal areas.

T20 TORX head may be OK for cedar fence construction. I am building a small skiff. The heads strip.T25 is the minimum for serious screws. I gave all mine to my son in law to rebuild his fence, regular modern coated deck screws with t25 or bigger heads dipped in sealer works well for me.Oh and the ones that did not strip the head sheered off.I gave it 2 rather than 1 because they were sharp and did not need a pilot hole.
