Henckels never lets down. I have never purchased "stamped" knives. These are forged in Spain not Germany but we're purchased as a gift for my daughter and they are great.

This was a gift for someone else. I have an older set that is German made. This new set is not nearly the quality of the German set, but a whole lot cheaper. The blades on these are much thinner. Based on reviews I found a set which is made in Spain, and avoided the ones made in China. This Spanish made set is almost as good as the German set (no longer made in Germany). However, the steak knives are still made in China and are pretty flimsy. Bottom line: Get the ones made in Spain. If you do an enlarged view you can read the place of manufacture on the blade of the big knife. The description does not tell you where they are made.

Love the knife set

Henckles has been a big name in kitchen cutlery for as long as I can remember. Back when my husband and I were first married, I bought him a single Henckles paring knife for Christmas. They were way out of our price range. He valued that knife for years!! After a few moves, I'm not sure what happened to it. Now we have a full set! The knives are dishwasher safe, but the instructions recommend hand washing. They are sturdy. The handles feel good, though the handle grip could be improved. The knives we've used so far have been very sharp and they cut very well. It's been a while since we've had such sharp knives! The set looks nice on the counter!

While Zwilling Henckels is typically known as the premium J.A. Henckels brand and Henckels is the more affordable option, this set is actually almost identical to a more expensive Zwilling Henckels set that my wife and I received for our wedding 16 years ago. This set has the heavier duty forged blades that are typical of Zwilling sets. Everything about this set is high quality, in line with what you would expect from a more expensive Zwilling set. As far as I can tell, the only real difference between this Henckels set and a Zwilling set is that this set is manufactured in Spain instead of Germany.If you are looking for a great set of knives at a price point that isn't quite as high as a similar Zwilling set, this Henckels branded version is a great option.

My set arrived with a box that looked quite warn. One of the knives inside had a blade that was chipped. Of note, the description states the knives are “Forged in Spain” and true, the heavier knives have this marker. The smaller knives clearly show they are made in India. I will be returning this set.
