Another wonderful biographical picture book!
The Little People Big Dreams series is great if you want a biographical picture book to introduce an important person to a younger child or as a quick primer story for older kids before they do more research. If you are looking for a biography this will probably disappoint. I usually love the Little People Big Dreams series in that they are biographical picture books that make learning about a new person accessible to younger children. My 5 year old has thoroughly enjoyed this series as we have been slowly going through them.Just like all the other books in this series, this story starts out with Charles Darwin as a young boy and talks about his interest in nature. The story talks about his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle, time spent on the Galapagos, and all the things he saw that lead to his writing the book "On the Origin of Species."With everything going on this year we are homeschooling my 5 year old. We started a science unit on zoology and habitats. This Charles Darwin book is a perfect addition to our discussions about all the different animals there are and how they are adapted to their habitats. The story was easy enough for my 5 year old, who is an advanced reader, to read on her own. Words like "Natural Selection" and "Evolution" led to discussions about what those words mean and how they applied to our homeschool unit. Overall we really love this series. This one on Charles Darwin is another great addition to our library.Charles Darwin (Little People, BIG DREAMS, 53)

Amazing Book!
I am a book snob, period. I have been reading my whole life - more so than most people or so I am told. I am typically reading 2-3 novels at a time. That being said I am very impressed with Little People, BIG DREAMS!The readability of this book is amazing - I can read this to my five year old and have a slightly decent conversation with my six year old and then in a year or so he will be able to start reading this book on his own.Art - the art is lovely and simple - but keeps your eyes moving to see everythingStory - the story is simple enough but also complex. My kids were especially interested in the animals and plants talked about. The evolution process as defined by Darwin was interesting, Natural selection. And that species change over time, which then gives rise to a new species and they both share a common ancestor. With all that being said - this is an excellent book! And each and every one of the little people, BIG DREAMS books introduces your children to a different sport, career, art style, a life they could also live!My son who is seven really enjoyed the timeline at the end of the book.

A Child Friendly Biography, Great Series
3.5 stars: I love the variety of subjects in the "Little People, Big Dreams" series. Charles Darwin is a controversial person when dealing with many religions. He was a scientist who realized how evolution works and is the author of the famous "The Origin of Species". He became interested in nature when he was only a young boy. His father wanted him to be a doctor, but that didn't work out. He traveled around the world observing animals in their natural habitat. What a wonderful way to make your mark on the world by doing something you love. This was a very simplistic story which is perfect for young children. I have to say that I did not really like the illustrations in this one. I spent most of the time looking at the ears of the human characters. It took a lot away from the story for me. When I read this with my grandson, every time I turned a page, he burst out laughing and made a comment about the ears. I think this is a great additions to the series, but if the children spend more time laughing about the illustrations, the subject may not be absorbed. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.

A book that kids should read
”Little People, Charles Darwin” is a book that parents should get for their kids. I tells the tale on one of the most influential men of modern history and it dwells briefly, but sufficiently for a child, on one of the universe’s main questions: Where did humans come from: Did God create us? How and why do humans change? How old is the earth? And more.Whether the child and his/her parents agree with the scientific view or not, it is important that the child knows the idea of evolution exists.Charles Darwin was born in England in 1809 and died in 1882.The book about him and what he taught is short. Each page has drawings that will interest children and writing on every other page of 4 easy to read lines. It tells very briefly about his trip in 1831 on the Beagle and at the Galapagos Islands, and what he found. It also tells that at age 28 he wrote how species change and evolution, and about his famous book the Origin of Species.

Great book on Darwin for kids
I really enjoyed this book. Our kiddo is 4 years old and it was fun for me to read the detail in this book and basically introduce her to the concept of evolution. Of course it's super high level stuff but I felt like I was able to use the book presentation to get that concept through to some tiny degree. It starts by telling about Darwin's upbringing and background and then expounds on his research and findings. This is one of those books that isn't too short but isn't too long - really a good amount of substance. At the end is a two-page detail with a brief timeline and four photos from real life. Overall I loved this book. Still a bit pricey at $10.49, not sure why they wouldn't be consistent with pricing, but a pretty awesome book overall and I would recommend it. The series appears to have a ton of books, maybe they even have one on me!

Great story, fun to read with my kids
We are so happy to add this Charles Darwin book to our home library. We have several other books from the Little People, Big Dreams series and really enjoy them and the simple and engaging way they are able to tell the stories for very influential and inspiring people and Charles Darwin’s story is no different. It is a great way to introduce his story to our kids. They love the book, it is fun to read together. The illustrations are unique, colorful and entertaining, my kids really enjoy it. I hope this assists you with your shopping. If so feel free to let me know below and leave a comment with any questions.Cheers, Cass

Ok
We love this series. I’ve bought this one as an intro to evolution as a counterbalance to my daughters COE school messaging (God ‘is a man’ apparently :/). It’s ok, a little more complicated than others. Nice intro to Darwin.
