Wonderful book about an awful person - message for today
What a great book. Everything is from a different perspective, which in today's world is not always appreciated. The book must be read in the traditional Japanese right to left manner. The storyline is so personal, intriguing, and insightful it is hard to put down.Highly recommend this book for anyone wanting insights into the mind of a deranged man, the sometimes accidental sequence of events that took him to power, how racists colluded all along the way and took the country to ruin, and if read closely you will see parallel events occurring with American leadership today with its poisonous political atmosphere. A cautionary tale in its way. As an educator, I can really see this book being available at the high school and college level. Diverse people and perspectives are good!

Learn WW2 history in manga form
Reads like a detailed historical novel of WW2 in manga form. Read about history from Mizuki's view. The art work is also great.

how did he come to hate Jews and pretty much everyone else so much
OK, so you see a graphic novel about the most reviled human monster known to man and you think, Hmmm. Then you read the description and realize that you really don't know all that much about Hitler except all the evil things ordered by and done in his name. But what made him that way, how did he come to hate Jews and pretty much everyone else so much, how did he even come to power, why didn't someone stop him. Well, this book doesn't really go too in depth on his early life, but it's got a lot of information on how he rose up in popularity to seize power of a country and bring the world to war again. Very relevant now since we've got a person of very similar temperament running our country now.

Thoroughly enjoyable
I immediately became a huge Shigeru Mizuki fan after reading this book. Led me to also read his series of books on Japan (between 1920s to 1989) and loved them all too. Very interesting account of Hitler's pre-military days and how he rose to "fame" and then how it all ended for him. I was amazed and intrigued throughout. However must warn readers that his books are written in the traditional Japanese format, which means the book must be read from (what we know as the) back to front. And for each page, the panels and speech bubbles have also got to be read from right to left. It took me quite awhile to get used to this. Totally worth the "trouble" :D
