Absolut zufrieden

Style
We are using this clock as a feature in our lounge and it just works. Beautiful design, the brushed steel finish on the casing is very smart, so it has done exactly what we wanted. The clock keeps really good time, so very happy with this purchase.

A very high quality and quiet flip clock
I decided to get this as I liked the size and design of the numbers, having been disappointed by most of the cheaper flip clocks available online. It didn't take long to realize the quality of the Karlsson Boxed Flip XL after getting it, it is a far cry in terms of quality compared to all the cheaper flip clocks found online. The sound of the flips is a calm 'floop' rather then a hard clack, a sound that barely bothers me in my sleep even when it flips over to the next hour. The cheaper clocks would wake me in the middle of the night if I forgot to close the door of the room that the clock was in.The box is also very sturdy, as you'd expect being made from steel but easily mountable on a wall if you wanted. I just keep mine on my TV table and put a few potted cactus's on top. Basically doesn't remove any surface space as the top of the clock can be used just as well. Setting time can be a bit of a pain, have only one way to flip the clock after all, this is a given on all flip clocks because you can't roll the flaps backwards. The mechanism is sturdy and the time is shown in 24 hour format unlike the cheaper flip clocks which are all 12 hour, am/pm format. All in all a very quality product, it's always a bit of a risk when buying expensive items and hoping for quality, but this one is worth it as a decoration piece and as a functional time keeper. Expect it to last a good while!*Edit* After over 3.5 years of use, the clock started to make more noise, it was a combination of ticking and stressed electric motor noises that would build up and "unload" every now and then. So it was pretty obvious the clock element, or gears inside the device was stressed. I opened it up, found the clock element and noticed it had one side of the gear stems exposed so I could add a very small bit of lubricant to each gear on that side. I used a fine metal lubricant, the stuff that is used for hair clipper lubrication and the noise was greatly reduced, probably returned to the state it was as new as I can't hear it while i'm in the room anymore. I couldn't get to the other side of the mechanism, without taking the whole thing apart, so the issue might return. However as long as the clock stays as quiet as it is with the added lubricant I won't be needing to take it to a real clock smith any time soon.
