Woodworkers and hobbyists of all sorts are frugal by nature... we save everything, hoping to someday find a use for that bit of wood, that odd-sized screw, or those extra hinges. Problem is we seem never to be able to find what we need and buy it all over again, only to discover it at some later date.Being frugal, we try everything to get organized. Old coffee cans, glass jars, and even store-bought organizers. Coffee cans are notoriously hard to label and store, glass jars can (and often do) break, and the multi-drawer organizers are just not quite "right." The configuration is fixed, the drawers never seem to be the right size or there are too many drawers of one size, and not enough of another, and a particularly vexing issue for me, I have yet to find one drawer bin organizer that is constructed around the standard sixteen-inch-on-center studs that make up 99.9% of our houses and garages. Even a twenty-bin organizer, filled with screws, nuts, and bolts can be too heavy for anything other than mounting directly into a stud.In my shop, the elegant answer is Quantum Industries' Tip Out Bin system. System is the correct word, by the way, because there are seven different bin size systems, four different dividable bins, and four sizes of individual bins. All bin systems are nominally 24 inches long, and the individual and half-size systems can be combined to perfectly match the 24-inch long systems. And guess what? Each 24-inch bin system has mounting holes located on sixteen-inch centers!Each bin tips out for easy access, and also lifts out so you can carry your supplies to where you are working or rearrange the bins so as to group like items together. The super-durable clear bins allow you to see what is inside, but if you are inclined there is a molded-in place for a label. I used card stock, my computer, and a paper cutter to make really nice, but removable, labels. Even with the label in place, you can still see what is inside each bin. Since the bins tip out in use, and stay closed when not in use, everything in the bin stays clean and dust-free.There may be a better system for organizing all your "bits and pieces," but in 30 years of woodworking, I haven't found it. Highly recommended.

My husband just finished building a new shop and we decided that we really needed to get organized so he didn't spend half of his time "looking" through coffee cans for the right screw, nail, electric fitting, etc. We are both retired and we plan to start making outdoor furniture as a hobby so having screws and nails where we could easily find them is going to be important. He is particular about how he hangs up things (wants heavy objects on a stud and will not use the drywall anchors), so after some research I knew he would be happy with the Quantum system because the mounting holes are on a 16" stud, plus they are all the same length and height regardless of the number of bins so they stack easily which is a great space saver if you have limited wall space (which we do). I got him 3 of the storage units to start (2 with 5 bins and 1 with 6 bins) and he loves them. They were easy to hang and the slide in labels are great. We plan to purchase additional storage units once we get these filled and see which combination will work best for us.

Although they don't hold as much as chests with deep drawers,they are perfect for storing Things that you Don't want to lose track of.Great Visibility of Contents, Easy Access, Quickly Close for neatness.I use the deep chest style elsewhere to store sorted parts,but these Storage bins to hold Special Items I used to forget I had.

Better quality than I expected. Great solution in my opinion.

Initially I think the price of this system is a bit high, but after installing them, getting things organized, I realize I have made the right choice. There are many plastic storage bins out there, but none as configurable as the Quantum system. The bins are made with high quality materials and I you can pick the right bins for your needs. I personally ordered:9 bins x 3 rows6 bins x 1 row5 bins x 1 row3 bins x 1 rowIf you want something cheap and just "good enough", skip this and buy the Stack-on stuff. If you want something that will last you a lifetime, extremely well made, extremely high quality storage bins which you can pass on to your kids, and then grand kids, this is the one. Trust me on that. I treat my tools and gears very seriously.
