There's nothing better than a tool that does exactly what you want it to do
There's nothing better than a tool that does exactly what you want it to do. Kind of likes a sports car on the track.Okay, I'm not an expert. I've been using very good battery-powered chainsaws for many years, but I never had a need for a gas-powered one until recently. I've got several oak trees to fell and the battery saws aren't going to cut it (pardon the pun) so I got this 16" Craftsman. This is my first day with it, so I can't comment on longevity, but it did such a wonderful job of felling a 12" tree and then cutting up the branches that I couldn't wait to give it a good review. I was even more impressed when I found that I could cut up the entire tree on 1 tank of gas (what is it? A pint?) It came with the first gallon's worth of synthetic oil, but I did have to run down to the hardware store to get some bar & chain oil - which I recommend doing - you can use other oils, but what I've learned (and now observed) the chainsaw bar oil is thicker and stickier so it doesn't flow out too fast and spray all over the place. It starts right up. Even the very first time only took the 3-5 pulls that it says. When warm, it restarted on the first pull. It cuts beautifully. 2-inch limbs come off in a second or two. It seemed to cut through the 10-12" sections in 30 seconds or less. Tiny branches just leap off to their death just at the sight of this saw coming. My arms are a little shaky from unfamiliar muscle use, but overall, the saw does not seem overly heavy, bulky, or awkward. Yeah, an experienced person might want a bigger saw, but personally, for a newbie or someone transitioning to gas saws, I think this one is PERFECT. It's capable of any job that I personally feel capable of tackling. As long as it holds up, this will go down as one of my best tool purchases ever! I review about a product a day, and every quarter I post to my FB page my "product of the quarter". This has a VERY strong chance of being that product this quarter!Hope this helps!

Great chainsaw for the home owner!
If you are looking for a mid size gas chain saw for around your property for trimming trees and cutting small to medium sized logs, this is the chainsaw for you! Very well made, the chain that came with it is razor sharp so be aware when handling and was adjusted on the saw perfectly. I used premixed ethanol free 2 cycle fuel and filled the chain oil, followed the starting directions and it fired right up and ran perfect. I let it Idle for 5 minutes to let it warm up the cylinder properly before revving up. Chain oiler works properly too. Engine revs quickly and very snappy. Not overly loud for a 2 cycle chain saw compared to some other saws. I would easily say this saw is as good as the more expensive brands,(Stihl)Also comes with a carrying case, multipurpose wrench/screwdriver, bottle of 2 cycle oil and full instructions. Cuts beautiful and plenty of power for home owner wood cutting tasks. Nice handling saw with perfectly functioning chain brake safety too. I am 100% pleased!

Great saw for the money
I needed a saw for my cabin and the reviews were pretty decent on this one. At this point I have several hours of clearing small trees, this is Oregon so trees get pretty big here, and the saw has worked very well. I had read that the saw might be hard to start but there are fairly detailed steps for priming/choking/number of pulls and frankly it was two pulls and off to work after I put fuel and bar oil in it.Fuel efficiency is pretty good, I need a break before it does, and the chain is well sharpened out of the box.4 stars out of 5 comes down to power. In all honesty if I let the saw do the work that really isn't an issues but if I try to speed up the cutting process a bit it will bog down or bind up but using proper cutting technique it works like a champ.I put this in my good purchase bucket versus the why did I buy that thing bucket.

Great chainsaw
This has been a great chainsaw for the trees around my house. It's a very straightforward tool to use, with minimal vibration, and easy pull start. I ran into issues with the chain tensioner but that was entirely user error. This has been a really good beginner chainsaw and I've gained a lot of experience with it. Also my hatred for tree roots has increased and this has definitely helped with that removal as well.

Great for the price point
Ive used mine for about 6 months to a year. Its well made works good. You can tell in some places corners were cut like the air filter but for the price run it buy a better one if you use it alot in 5 years. Starts easy ive used stronger saws wouldent buy a bigger bar it struggles a bit on bigger cuts but not bad.

LET'S ROCK!
This craftsman chainsaw's performance is very impressive. After unboxing I added the necessary gas-mix and chain oil. Two pulls at full choke, choke in a third pull and it fired right up. At 16" it's perfect tool for tree trimming. The 42cc 2 stroke engine has plenty of power to do the job.My one and only disappointment was that a storage/carrying case was not included or optional.

Worked great for about 1 hour
Weather finally cleared up enough yesterday so I could start using the saw.Followed the directions for 1st start up and it went just fine for the first hour or so.Took a break for lunch and went back to finish what I started. Followed the "warm" start up directions.Wouldn't crank. Gave it some time incase I flooded it. Tried again, no good. Waited again. Tried the cold start instructions. No good. Uncovered the carburetor so all the fuel would evaporate. Back together and tried again. No crank. Gave up for the day and tried again today. Cold crank instructions. Won't crank. Doesn't even sound like it's getting a spark.A complete waste of money and can't even send it back now.
