A Guide for Using 'Holes' in the Classroom (Literature Unit)

If you are teaching Holes, I wouldn't necessarily use this book exclusively, but it has a good variety of activities and worksheets in it that I think were quite good for my classes. In addition to your own ideas this is a very good activity book with lots of worksheets that will help the kids think. It seemed to be an appropriate level for my 9th graders - Challenging enough to make them think, and not so easy that they were automatically getting every answer, but simple enough it wasn't way over their heads. Good complement to the book/ common core.

I teach below-level and at-risk high school students. _Holes_ is slightly above their average reading level. This guide is a good starting point, but many of the activities are too juvenile and there's not nearly enough work for an entire unit.

This literature guide has stronger activities than others I have seen. The variety of activities allows for differentiation in the classroom.

Das Begleichheft ist stark für jüngere Klassen ausgelegt, da auch rezepte oder eine anleitung zum herstellen von eigenen fossilien beinhaltet sind. Für die 10Klasse English lohnt es sich bedingt trotzdem, da die Quizes zu den Kapiteln, die Vokabellisten und einige andere kurze Themeneinschübe durchaus sinn machen und das leseverständnis vorantreiben. Für den preis, in ordnung. würde es wieder kaufen.

Ich habe das Buch in der Hoffnung gekauft, anregende Ideen und Originelles für meinen Unterricht mit "Holes" zu finden. Bedauerlicherweise wartet dieser "Guide" mit wenig Inspirierendem auf, nichts, was einem in einer Lehrer/-innenrunde nicht nach einer Stunde selbst in den Sinn gekommen wäre. Ich kann diesen Behelf nicht weiterempfehlen.

Good resource. Major emphasis on comprehension and vocabulary. I wish there would be more cross-curricular ideas.

Diese Lektürenhilfe hat sehr gute Ansätze um den Unterricht für Schüler interessanter sowie abwechslungsreicher zu gestalten. Allerdings enthält es keine Zusammenfassung des Buches sowie der einzelnen Kapitel.
