New Testament Basics for Catholics

He makes the New Testament feel current and the historical figures are relatable like real people we could identify with. He ties so many events together and points out backstory of scripture. It reads like a page turner- you just want to keep going and learn more. (You can watch his conversion story interview on EWTN's The Journey Home on YouTube.) He's an excellent teacher and I plan to read all his books.

A brief, but enlightened summary of the New Testament. I liked the ability of the author to bring the stories and passages into contemporary view without compromising the historical record. I am now ready to delve further into the details of the Bible with a sense of where I’m going.

This is an excellent book. I can not recommend enough. Ideal as a companion when reading the new testament.I have no hesitation about recommending this amd the authors other books.

Great, in-depth information. Easy enough for teenagers to understand. Deep enough for adults to gain addition insights into the life of Christ.

John Bergsma is at it again with a flyover of the key points of the new testament. Bergsma takes you through the Gospels, St. Paul, St. John, and more. He explains what the symbolism is in some of Jesus's most important miracles. For example, the 7 signs in St. John's gospel reveal the 7 sacraments. During my read through I did spot a few typos, which are minor, but break the concentration required to reflect on Bergsma's teachings.

The simplicity of the New Testament is brought to awareness through clearly exhibited ideas and concepts. Warnings and Joy foretold.

Written by Dr. John Bergsma, the book is fabulous. He was one of my college professors so one might think he talks above the crowd. Not so, this book is for anyone. Simple figures, easy language and a great read!

This is useful, but is probably beginner level. Three stars just because it was not useful for me. The sister publication "Bible Basics" is really good, really enjoyed that!
