An absurd novel by Magnus Mills
I love his novels. They are totally original and weird, and this one didn't disappoint , although I am still confused by the ending. Maybe I'll ask my son, who recommended the book, to explain it.

Hits and Misses
This is a bit too realistic for a Magnus Mills fan who would normally listen to his perfect 3 minute 45s in a reverential silence broken by chuckles. The trouble is that obsessional male nerdy music fans are a bit too familiar territory. 'Emotional retardation' is even signalled .as a possible interpretation - this is also a study of repression as well as of committee shenanigans and parish pump wars, but where is the mystery and poetry? It's certainly not provided by song titles, as we know from Nick Hornby. The main impression is of little boys falling out with each other and being mean to our narrator, and of girlfriends breaking up male friendships.Of course most of it is enjoyable, but I didn't see the point of the Confessionals, or like the ending.

Interesting, until it wasn’t
I had fond hopes this was going to get somewhere, but it didn’t.
