Great tool, bad instructions.
Using this thickness gauge is pretty intuitive and the readings are fairly consistent. Can't speak to the reliability because I just got it. The digits are large and easy to read. The voice announcements cool too. Also like the rechargeable lithium battery. The calibration instructions however, are horrible, so here is the process I figured out, step-by-step:To Calibrate Wintact WT230:1. Go to CAL, then Base Calibration2. Start with either base plate, ferrous or non-ferrous.3. IMPORTANT: Press the tool on the bare plate first– without plastic substrate. (prompt says “0”), lift off of plate when up "arrow" shows.4. Follow prompts for each of the 6 substrate thicknesses: 51, 101, 248, 503, 1009, 1513 microns5. Pay attention to the up and down "arrows" and the beeps to know when to check the next thickness.6. "Calibration Complete" message will show. Verify calibration with any thickness of substrate.7. Repeat with other base plate. There will be slight variances between Fe and nFe readings.

Not Bad..
I've been seeing these for a while & caught it on sale here cheaper than other, straight from china, sites.. & it actually work well; ferrous & nonferrous. Seems accurate. Clear difference in factory paint reading to areas I've sprayed. Can be a real handy tool in shopping for a preowned vehicle. NOT ALL accidents are reported (repairs on trade-ins, etc)

Garbage
First one I bought broke on me the first use, second one I bought couldn't measure paint correctly and was way off on the measurements compared to something reliable. Don't buy it, its complete trash. If your looking for something reliable, spend the money. Accurate readers cost 200 plus and will save you money in the long run. I do a lot of paint correction and sanding on vehicle paint and I need something reliable

A wonderful device to that multitasks and helps get the job done!
I like how easy it is to calibrate but also keep in mind not to mishandle the sensor. Doing that can disrupt the sensor and make it defective. Also another bonus is the USB charging cable and long lasting lithium battery.

Thickness gauge meter
Really handy device. Going into the car detailing business and having this adds that bit of security when polishing a car. I never owned anything like this so it was a little confusing getting it calibrated because the instructions didn’t really go into detail and there’s also no case to store it in. Other than that it works great!

Needs calibration
Does work like it’s supposed to, but needs proper calibration first that the instructions don’t explain correctly, otherwise it’ll read 0.00 or tell you “OL” overflow. All of the plates read consistently the correct measurement +/-1 but 490ɥm was off by 3-4.If you by chance hit “factory reset” it will be in Chinese, and to switch it back the top option in the menu is language setting.
