Great quality product (assuming no heavry rain)
I've owned other instant shelter type products and of all of them this one is the best. I chose it after seeing one in person at a swim meet and it is really nice. Solid construction and a carry bag which is easy to put the shelter in. The bag also has wheels and sturdy handles. Definitely worth considering - the extra cost is worth it.[Update 2013.10.28] Still love the canopy in for use as a shelter from the sun, but if it is raining you cannot leave the canopy un-attended. Water will pool and eventually overwhelm the frame. We were away and were hit with an unexpected thunderstorm - water pooled, metal twisted, plastic snapped, shelter failed.Interestingly my old worn out beaten up canopy survived as it has enough holes in it to let the water drain...

Excellent when properly used and cared for.
After having 5 of these in the family, I can say that a lot of the poor reviews are most likely from some form of user error. Have we had an arm break? Yes, by someone borrowing our canopy. Have we had it break in rain? Well, actually it was a terancial downpour with heavy damaging winds, our fault for not securing it better or temporarily taking it down, user error again.I’ve had um up in moderate rain with no issues, the canopy has to be installed correctly (tight) and rain runs right off. Light to moderate wind is no issue if you are using the supplied tie downs , stakes, and are using aftermarket pole weights. If you are not capable of following directions and being aware of what to do and not to do, then perhaps you need to purchase a commercial canopy. By the way, on the broken arm support, Coleman was quick to send out a new one.

Tent perfection
Love this canopy. It is big but it is so so soooo easy to set up quickly and with the straight legs, I feel like it has more room for everyone. Now to find sides for it and it will be 100% perfect

Complete Failure at the Beach
We bought the 12x12 canopy to protect our grandchildren from the sun on the beach. We paid extra for the Coleman name because we thought the product would be of a higher quality. We put the canopy up on the beach during low to moderate breezes. Within an hour one of the sides collapsed, and we did not have a canopy for the kids anymore. The joints are cheap pop rivets held in place with plastic hinges. It does not take much torque on the hinges for them to fail. I reached out to Coleman about this and have yet to hear anything back from them. Our last "no name" canopy lasted for 10-12 visits to the same beach.

Great for the beach
This canopy was very sturdy and easy to set up and take down. So glad I made the purchase.

Large, Easy To Set-up Canopy
We started a weekend business selling fresh seafood at a busy street corner. Needed a tent that would hold up to the ever-changing Florida weather and also one that would be easy to set-up. For the most part, we found just what we were looking for in this tent. My husband had no problem setting this up by himself within a five minute period. Once it's out of the bag, just pull open the frame, push the legs up and lock into place. From there you just snap the hanging tabs into place and anchor as needed. For us, since we were on concrete, we secured the tent to the heavy coolers full of seafood. The tent's large size was able to cover our two large 6 ft. Long tables and our fish processing table, while giving us plenty room to move around. The downside to tent: There is no ventilation opening at top of tent. So when a strong wind blows, you better hold on to the legs. In this Florida weather, it can be nice and sunny one minute, and before you know it, the winds and rain will come rolling in. Even with it strapped down, when there's no place for the wind to escape at the top, the wind gets trapped and pulls at the tent. Our tent did eventually fall in at one side. This did weaken the tent permanently.Overall, it it's a pretty good tent. We had no leaks at all. It's very spacious and held up to our constant weekend use. If you're living in a windy place, I would suggest looking for a tent with ventilation at the top, not this one.

This is a SUN SHADE Canopy ONLY. It states that in the description. OURS HELD UP FOR OVER 6 MONTHS through SUN & Rain though!
Had this canopy up for over 6 months - it was a ridiculously HOT summer and we needed it to give some shade for our flock of Muscovy ducks. It held up GREAT! It ripped when one of the girls decided to fly up to roost on top. Once she did it, some of the others followed suit. It still held together for another 2 months. But we just experienced Hurricane Matthew's winds (gusts of up to 25mph) and it ripped to shreds.Just ordered another top from eReplacements. Just input the make and model # and they give you a page of replacement parts. The top portion only was $95 plus $14 shipping. Better than re-buying the whole thing....saved $80!

This is the BEST canopy! We've been through a few
This is the BEST canopy! We've been through a few. We spend a great deal of time outside by the pool in AZ or out at the lake. I'm always checking out the canopies the sellers use at Vintage and Farmers Markets, to see which one is the best. I came across the Coleman a few weeks ago, had a long conversation with the owner and then decided to buy one. Everybody's needs are different, my requirements were: ease of set-up and take-down, stability and large amount of shade. The Coleman tabs/clips/buttons (whatever you want to call them) are amazingly easy to use. No more filleted finger tips from the crusty metal button & hole type of mechanism in the telescoping legs. Used in conjunction with a new set of canopy weight bags; it was brick-house stable in the afternoon winds in AZ. The difference from 10X10 to 12X12, produced a greater amount of shade, without giving up space for storage or ability to set-up. I was worried the larger canopy would be much harder to set-up (I'm 5'1") and it wasn't an issue. My husband took our old one to use in the driveway (that was part of the deal for buying a new one), for when he's working on a project...later he came in and asked, "how much was the new one?"...I know what he's thinking...he wants a Coleman too!
