I really enjoyed this book. I have read classic archery books like Howard Hills Hunting the Hard Way and Maurice Thompsons The Witchery of Archery. I thought Saxton Pope did a wonderful job with imagery and story telling in this book. You do need to understand that this was written a long time ago in a less diverse time. If you are looking for instruction or a book on traditional archery gear and shooting there are much more modern texts that cover that, but if you are looking for an entertaining read with great stories from a founder of modern bow hunting this is a great book.

This is a well written book. I've been a bowhunter for 45 years, I appreciated this book. It was an interesting read. I think anyone who considers themself an ethical bowhunter who appreciates those who went before would really appreciate this as a gift.

I introduced my sons to this book via a free iTunes download but my oldest son has fallen in love with it, but the digital copy doesn’t have any pictures or diagrams, this copy has it all and he loves it.
