I've been a piano teacher for many years and use the Alfred's Premier Piano Course for almost all my students.

Really helped! Definitely recommend for anyone looking to learn.

We purchased this book because we acquired a new piano teacher that preferred to use this course while teaching students. We had a similar piano series that our kids dabbled with while learning piano last year. The books are quite easy to follow and teach basics at this level, including how to read the staff and notes and other basic theory, while putting easy to learn songs under the kid's fingers.Although the content is similar to any beginning piano books, the biggest difference has been the teacher. His presentation and engagement with this material is superior to the last "course" we worked out of. Parents make sure your piano teacher is a good fit with your family before really worrying about the beginning books!

All of my kids take piano, and they all have begun with this book. It introduces the concepts of piano wonderfully.This book does not have songs in it though. It has worksheets. I highly suggest you purchase Lesson Book 1A to go with it.
