White Water

I teach 1st grade in VA. I purchased this book for two reasons, to build understanding around American segregation laws, and two to support our talk around realistic fiction. My students were on the edge of their seats throughout the book, and it was a wonderful way to spark conversations around both topics. As a teacher and a mother (of a black child no less) I highly recommend this book.Oh and it arrive fast and as detailed.

Perfect for helping little children understand the feelings and situations of the battle for equality. Nice size, great illustrations, uplifting message.

Powerful and thought provoking read for students of all ages. The story and illustrations inspired an incredible discussion with my kindergarten students!!

I ordered this book to use in our homeschool to introduce Civil Rights. We read it, and several others, prior to taking part in The 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington (we live in DC). It's great. My youngest daughter really made the connection, specifically because her best friend in our neighborhood is an African American boy. Not only is it an important concept, but it's a good story, too.

Such a warm story written in a way that kids understand. Highly recommend and will look for author's other books.

i wanted on dvd not book form i found from producer it is not on dvd yet so i sent the books back! but i loved the movie it came on tvone in Febuary during black history month.

Great book for conversations on view point and perspective. Excellent for children just learning that the world sees differences.

Excellent way to teach the young about segregation and the world from a small boys perspective.Loved it highly recommend .
