Berkshire Blanket VelvetLoft Throw | Ultra Soft Cozy Plush Throw Blanket | Olive Green | 60" x 70"

Do not buy this blanket. It will not stop shedding.I have washed it 5 times following the directions. I have hand brushed it (30 min each side) to remove excess fuzz and fibers and washed it again.Whatever I do, when I remove it from the dryer it is covered in little pills and lint balls. I’m sure it will stop shedding eventually, but I’m not sure what will be left at that point; it’s already looking worse for wear.I have an old blanket from this brand that I did not encounter this issue with when I purchased it years ago. Something must have changed in their production method. I also recently purchased a pair of fleece sheets from this company and have encountered the same issue, so I know this wasn’t a one-off problem.Please, save yourself the hassle (and the mess) and look elsewhere.

Please allow me just a minute for some back story on this throw, I found one by the same company at a popular retail store (initials in their name) for $14.99, it was thick, luxurious and this absolutely beautiful Fall color, but unfortunately, there was only one, not three as I needed/wanted so I came straight home, looked on Amazon for the same company and was SO happy to find it for $22 so I ordered it immediately thinking it would be the same one I bought at this other retail store, again, because it was the exact same company, same material/color everything, however, not only was it not the same color, it was not the same throw. It was much, much thinner and although soft, no where near as luxurious as the one I thought I was getting. The one I got at the other store was the quality you want when giving someone a gift, the one I ordered from Amazon was no where near the quality and I just don't know why because it had the exact same company tag on it as the one I purchased elsewhere. I do not think this throw is worth the price I paid for it on Amazon.

This blanket is great to use while sitting on a coach and getting cozy in fall/winter, but it's just too small to fit a twin or full size bed (which, oddly, is what I bought it for! LOL!). Even though it did not meet my expectations in terms of size, it blew me away in terms of feel, comfort, and "plushniss" (if that's a word). If you want a good, super soft, loverly "couch blank" to use in colder times when cuddling up to watch a movie or something, this is for you (and it's why I kept it rather than returned it). I love Berkshire blankets and have owned many. I recently changed up decor and purchased the Pacific (blue green) and the burnt olive colors. I threw them in the wash and then the dryer. Holy moly! The Pacific blanket basically exploded. I know it was the Pacific blanket because the lint I spent an hour removing from the burnt olive blanket is blue. The lint also got all over the next load of laundry. I threw it in before I realized what had happened. I have never experienced such poor quality from Berkshire before.

The VelvetLoft has a more luxurious feel to it than my old Berkshire blanket, which I think is made from their Serasoft fabric, which is very soft and snugly, but not as velvety. The bijou blue is a beautiful color, much lighter than in the photo. It seems to be the same as what was sold on QVC some years ago, judging from the video on the QVC website. I live in a warm climate, so it gets too hot to use the blanket all year round. I still love it, though.

I have come to love Berkshire Velvetloft everything.The throw did not disappoint! My first introduction to this fine line was when I was asked to order a set of Berkshire VELVETLOFT sheets by my sister. The moment I placed my hand on them I knew I needed a set as well, just waiting for them to restock my favorite color and size. The next best thing while waiting, is the throw... you will not be disappointed!

I don't recall whether the description included "light weight" in it. If that is what you're looking for, this is a very soft and light weight throw blanket and a beautiful shade of red. I was looking for a duplication of a Berkshire throw my daughter owns that is much more weighted, "snugly" and keeps the winter chills at bay - and this was a big disappointment. Even next to the fireplace, it didn't keep me warm.

This blanket is excellent quality! I wouldn’t call it lightweight - it’s more of a sturdier plush blanket, but not at all “hot.” Super soft with a beautiful, vibrant color! Washes up well too! The only reason I took off a star is because it was the second one I ordered in this color, but it’s an entirely different shade.
