Educational fun!
I discovered this book at a grandson’s school library. It was a must-have! There is a street in Baltimore MD (Fort Avenue) which leads into Fort McHenry - of Star Spangled Banner fame. This grand avenue has seen its share of history. Look around your town or State to find a locale to make this book come alive for your little ones, too! There are hidden objects on each page to keep their interest.

Nostalgia
Have you ever caught yourself thinking about things from your childhood that you know you’d probably never see again. Little glimpses of memories like at school and remember a page of a book in clear detail but thinking now as an adult that even though that book was so freaking cool, it was probably just some page from a text book and you’ll never see it again? Well that’s this book for me. I stumbled upon it when I was looking at children’s books to learn German of all places. I immediately bought it. My 5th grade social studies teacher taught us stuff from this book that sparked a lot of my adult joys and my intense love of history. I am so thankful I found this!

Fantastic Book for Kids....and adults!
Purchased this for a 7 year old, and not only was he enthralled by this book, so was I.Each page turned is a two page view of the street during certain periods in history. Fantastic illustrations. There is a key chart at the bottom highlighting certain events in the picture.Highly entertaining and informative for kids! It's a "must have" for any child.

Awesome content
This printing didn't seem quite as good as the original - pictures not quite as clear - still an extremely wonderful educational experience.

Wonderful trip through time
My ten year-old son loved watching the buildings change, keeping one eye on the castle in the background and delighting to find the evolution of toilets (giving me the chance to explain the uses of the outhouse).

Superb for parents and children alike.
So pleased to have found this book, that I ordered another copy. The graphics are superb, detail wonderful. Intelligently, the hillside in the background has a clear profile so it can be recognised by youngsters as the pages and time line continue.Beginning with prehistoric life, the events of one location move through early Britain, through the first and second millennia, to futuristic possibilities. Historical detailing with dress, building structure and profession are shown. Those given are within a child’s experience, such as the early dentist. What I particularly liked with each page, was the potential discussion opportunity between family members. Role play and dressing up ideas streamed through as I browsed through the pages. This is for my grandson, who will go through this with his parents, but I will want to go through the book with him too - the pages are so excitingly done. Maybe I’ll look through the pages of my second copy again!Fully recommended and partners well with books about children’s lives around the world.

Beautifully illustrated book that holds their attention for hours!
A beautifully illustrated book with so much detail it keeps children and adults entranced for hours! Excellent for history projects with the kind of social history facts that children love. Suits a wide variety of ages as the little ones love finding items in the pictures whereas older children will study the text also and make comparisons from page to page.

Larger than expected
This is a fantastic book with great illustrations of a street through time. There's so much detail and can be looked through time and time again. The oblong shape means that lots of detail is contained on each page of the book (with each page representing one era) bur the book is very large so it doesn't fit on a typical bookshelf. Check the dimensions before buying if this is going to be an issue. Would recommend for anyone who enjoys visual history.

A must have book
Excellent book, greatly enjoyed by 3, 7, 9yr olds and the adults too! The detail is superb and it has made for a great learning opportunity. It's on our coffee table all the time and gets looked at every day since we bought it during the lockdown.

Fantastic history resource
This book is invaluable as an aid to history. Children have identified similarities and differences through out different eras. As well as aiding in chronology. We use this book throughout KS2
