Product Description Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await. .com It's sick! It's twisted! It's House of 1,000 Corpses, and it's more fun than a wholesome bowl of "Agatha Crispies"! Dropped by two studios (Universal and MGM) and doomed to obscurity until Lions Gate Films gave it a limited theatrical release, Rob Zombie's gonzo horror flick is a blood-spattered throwback to the gore-fests of the '70s, lending new meaning to the term "box-office gross." Most critics misunderstood this unbridled exercise in graphic style and violence, but for devoted horror buffs it's a refreshing rebuttal to the comparatively "polite" frights of the post-Scream era. While paying homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left, Motel Hell, and other gory classics, Zombie's ramshackle plot (two young couples are terrorized by an inbred family of homicidal maniacs) lacks a crucial sense of dread, but his pastiche of vivid colors, grainy fetish-films, and photo-negative imagery is guaranteed to hold your attention. A bona-fide cult item, this House is definitely worth a visit... if you dare. --Jeff Shannon

All American Horror
I just finished watching Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses for the fourth time and was once again amazed by just how good a movie it is; amazed enough to write a review. I remember seeing this in the theater a few weeks after its initial release. The few people that were in the audience walked out of the movie either completely traumatized or screaming like a bunch of demented Kiss fans. There hasn't been a true horror movie like this made in years. What has passed for horror over the last decade has either been gory Clearasil commercials (Scream and its clones) or ghosts-just-need-to-be-understood melodramas (the godawful Sixth Sense and its clones). It seems movie makers have forgotten that horror needs to be horrific. House of 1000 Corpses is not a perfect horror movie. It doesn't even come close to the terror induced by a movie like the Shining. However, it is one of the few horror movies out there that has what you could call a "vision". Rob Zombie took a generic plot (actually, he just stole it from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and beefed it up with some of the best mix of imagery, sound and emotion ever put into a horror flick. This movie didn't give me nightmares, but the images did linger in my mind for weeks after first seeing it. It is filled with an insane amount of detail that really holds up after repeated viewings. What seperates a good horror flick from a great one is atmosphere and this movie has it in spades. Every set from Spaulding's road side attraction to the lair of Dr. Satan reinforces the sense that we, the viewer, have come for a freak show and by God we are going to get it! This movie comes from a long tradition of disturbing and shocking movies that may not make you scream but are guranteed to get under your skin. In it you will find none of the elements that ruin modern horror: there are no digital images, there is no polished dialogue with clever refrences to other, better movies and the killers are about as far away from glamourous as you can get. What this movie does have is an incredible sense of artistry, an excellent pace, great camerawork and a complete disregard for good taste or moral boundaries. The villains embody everything that is disturbing about evil. They hate you, they'll hurt you and hurting you gets them off. The only way I could think of improving the movie would be to make the victims a bit more sympathetic. Excessive character development isn't necessary in a horror movie but I think that I would feel an even greater fear if I like the victims. The victims in this movie are complete jackasses and I almost enjoyed seeing them suffer. I think a villain is nastier if he preys not only on innocence, but on likeable, attractive innocence. This minor gripe doesn't ruin the movie though. I highly recommend seeing this movie, especially if you plan on watching it with someone easily offended....you'll have a field day trying to calm them down. Word around the campfire says that the sequel will pit the depraved Firefly clan against a new set of villains, hopefully nastier than them. I can't wait.

EXCELLENT PURCHASE
No complaints here! This is actually the first Blu Ray disc I have ever purchased and love the quality! My only personal wish was that Rob Zombie made the rest of the Trilogy in the same style of HO1000

Wrong Route No Exit!
This is one of my favorite horror movies. When I first saw it at the movie theater I left very upset. The movie has a bad ending. By bad I mean it does not have a happy charming ending. I've always enjoyed seeing bad guys get what they deserve. This movie is not going to give you that. I have to say I was impressed with some of the scenes in this movie. In particular, the one where Otis doesn't seem to make up his mind to pull the trigger to kill that cop. Everybody in the movie theater was like: come on pull the trigger already! I mean, this scene was really something and it sure made the whole audience react. It was exasperating and it sure was a good example of the sublime. What do people think just before they die? Those last seconds. What would you think about? This movie is scary and it has a lot of sexy scenes indeed. It contains a lot of insulting language. But then again, most horror movies will have this type of language. It contains strong sexuality comments as well. The movie is rated R but really it should be Unrated. It is extremely gory. The movie is in the Widescreen format in English with optional Spanish or English subtitles, with special features such as: Director's commentary, cast and crew interviews, and some rehearsal footage. The plot of this movie is very similar to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It will keep you right at the edge of your seat. I suggest watching it at night. Good luck and happy dreams!

GOOD DIRECTOR'S GOOD WORK
Well, I saw the movie <THE DEVIL'S REJECTS> first and compare to that movie, this one is a slow ride. And something was missing. But if you had seen this without watching that movie, you would have definately enjoyed and have had fully fulfilled your appetite. There is no nudity or anything sexual just like <THE DEVIL'S REJECTS> I think because of the killer's tast from this film and it worked fine that way. It has more gory shots instead. But as I told you, there are more blank moments rather boring moments that you should bare. I don't know why Rob Zombie made this movie with such a slow phased way this time since he knew how to please audience and I know he does. But I don't necesarrily mean that this movie is all boring or bad.It is still good to watch and will make you enjoy if you are a true horror film fan.Even the ending is good and will make you smile. The two women as I told you appear in this film are not all pretty and are not going to be nude at all but for some reason will make you interesting to watch. Also the two men in this film will make you enjoyable too.But most of all the bad guys are great. They are not all monsterous look but more like Heavy metal cool guys. Also along with the guys are sexy girls who are also dying to kill these tourists with tasting blood from them. The music like always are mixed with country songs and heavy metal which is really good to hear.Rob Zombie even made a documentary about a heavy metal band and we can easily feel how much he is interested in music from all of his movies. The old film look going back and forth from color normal images are kind of question mark for me since so many filmmakers are using that kind of images before. It was kind of old fashioned and Some how disturbing me. It almost broke the continuity. Along with was the negative images too which also broke the continuity too.But other then that, the movie was enjoyable to watch for the evening delight.Rob deserves to make more horror film I guess and he should be called as next John Carpenter or something.
