Short write-up of disappearance of a B24, references for WWI and links did not work
I learned about the tragedy of the Lady Be Good from a friend and wanting to know more, I found this book. It is a short account of what happened to the Lady Be Good B24 Bomber and her crew. They never made it back to base in northern Libya after the first bombing run on April 3, 1943. I had no problem with the short narrative, except that the authors described alleged problems among the rookie crew without mentioning their source.I did learn something from the narrative about how the B24 and other period bombers used radio technology to find their heading to their target and then back to base. This discussion helped me to understand what may have gone wrong.I give this two stars as opposed to three stars for these reasons:1) The references included in my e-book had nothing to do with the Lady Be Good or World War II. The references appeared to be about World War I and were not useful.2) They promised links in their description about the e-book on Amazon. I was, perhaps naively, hoping for links for further information on the Lady Be Good. I was again disappointed. The links were apparently to Amazon and did not work well, so were of limited use.Yes, the e-book was relatively in-expensive so I was not out a lot of money.

The book describes the plane and crew plus the will to survive under extremely harsh conditions
I found the story The Mystery of the Lady Be Good: The History of the World War II Plane’s Disappearance and Discovery to be interesting. The book discussed the bombing mission and various members of the crew. I found it interesting to note that almost no members of the crew of the aircraft knew each other before the mission to bomb Naples. The book also noted that the pilot and the copilot did not appear to get along. The copilot evidently wanted to turn around while the pilot wanted to continue the mission. It is unclear whether the friction between the pilots was a factor in their later getting lost. The book seems to indicate that the navigator was afraid to challenge the pilots when he realized he was lost allowing the pilot to finish the mission but forcing them to return to the base after dark. The rest of the book describes the finding of the plane and after that the search for the bodies over the years. The book discusses the various individuals and the companies they work for who came across the plane and later the bodies. The book demonstrates the will to live that the crew demonstrated. The book discusses a lot of information succinctly. I recommend this book.

A new mystery for me
As a lover of maritime and aeronautical mysteries, I relished learning of the Lady Be Good, A well-documented tale of the Lady Be Good from when it went down until it was discovered many years later. I plan to add this account to my list of further reading.

I love it.
This is my favorite story from WWII. It starts off as a completely mystery, then some answers, then more answers, then 99% solution.

Fascinating story that everyone should read, but note that this is a very short book.
An amazing story of tragic navigation errors and survival. The book is short, but the low price can't get much lower...

Lingering WWII mystery.
This book clears up some of the mystery of a WWII bomber that disappeared over Africa, and explains what probably happened to the crew.
