good pond filter
I have 3 of these filters for my koi pond. They have done wonders for the water quality. One of the newest filters had an issue. The head clamp plastic split and the filter began to leak. So I bought a different filter like the mercury filter, It's good but I like the one I just bought. These filters are easy to install and maintain. I have one that's 4 years old that I replaced he sponge filters and UV bulb in and even that was easy!

keep it clean, Works good 2nd year with this one.
be sure to take a picture of the filter arrangement before disassembling them. Buy a extra set of filters so you can clean filters later. , dump water in bottom of container and keep spraying with water till the filter balls look clean. make sure the ring around the top is in the proper place. it cleans our pond nicely as long as you keep filters clean. We have a 4000 gal. filter and keep it on all winter. we have ruined a couple of ultra voilet lights. Proberly froze or not sure why. Check the light to make sure it is lit. It keeps the green color out of our pond

Great Filter
After trying other filters I decided to go with this one and in two days I could actually see the bottom of my Koi pond, in 4 it was clear.

Great for a small pond..I keep on buying them after I trash one!
Our fish pond is about 18 by 10 by 4 feet deep and we have it hooked up to 4000GPH pump. and this pump gives us little issue - this is the third one we've gotten over the years, not because they failed but because they got trashed somehow. Not too hard to set up once you get the hose adapters cut. I put an extra hose onto the cleaning outlet to squirt the water away from the pond, and you don't have to put a valve on it to keep the water from leaking out of the filter. This thing is made out of plastic so don't throw it around nor be a gorilla when you tighten the hose collars. The UV bulbs are easily gotten on Amazon; if they touch water at all when they're lit they will blow immediately and will blow your circuit every time you try to turn it on, so if you take the top off and water runs all over it, do yourself a favor and take the UV plate off and dry the chamber that the bulb sits in. Also, with my first one I thought I needed to coat the threads with thread sealant but it's not necessary and actually makes them harder to screw on. Try not to lose the plastic washers; you can get something similar at any plumbing department if you do. If you take the foam and plastic baffles apart to do a thorough cleaning, take a few pictures of the parts as you take them apart because it's like a puzzle and will only go back into the tank if assembled the correct way.

Bulb crumbled when trying to replace
This worked fine for a year, but when it came time to change the UV bulb. ... wow, I have never seen a worse design. Good luck changing the bulb if you buy one of these. The casing that holds the bulb in is extremely tight. These bulbs are usually just push-lock / pull-unlock, no twisting involved. But because it's SO tight, the base of my old bulb just crumbled as I pulled on it instead of releasing from the base.

Quality Koi Pond Filtration
The superior quality and design of this filter was evident when I removed it from the packaging. As I read the instructions and familiarized myself with the product, manual, features and their locations for proper installation and use, I knew it would provide better filtration than even the most expensive filters that I have previously purchased. It has numerous layers of filter pads, and bioballs, backwash option, and UV light with a sensor to prevent overheating The plastic shell is thicker to prevent warping and leakage. It has a lid that is easy to remove as well as an easy to turn dial for for backwashing in between full cleanings and prior to resuming water flow into the pond to remove waste that rises to the top after even briefly removing power.I built the pond and estimate it to be approx 3000 Gallons. Due to my last filter’s subpar performance and a minor shipping delay for this one, I lost 3 of my 14-18 inch Japanese butterfly koi that I have had for almost 8 years.Once I hooked up this filter and completed two 1/3 partial water replacements in two days the water clarity improved and I was able to identify appearance, symptoms, that it was bacterial infection, and then treat my 8 survivors. It has only been a few weeks since and the filter still exceeding my expectations and without cutting the pipes to increase water flow.Aside from the minor 1 day delivery delay, I am happy and considering buying a second one to use for my smaller waterfall. So far, I would definitely recommend.

love it
This filter is vital for consistently clean water in your pond. It is NOT a vacuum cleaner that will clear up a mucky bottom, but once the muck is removed, this filter, with the recommended pump, will remove that suspended algae over a few days. The cleaning of the filter process seems to work well, also. --I just put a permanent 2' section of hose on the cleanout port to help direct the dirty water during cleanout. You will have to judge how often that needs to be, but it's easy-peasy to go into the cleanout mode; rotate the cleaning arm; and watch for the water to clear up--meaning the pump is running during this process--and voila, done with cleaning the filter. Don't forget to turn the valve back to the filtering position. Very good design overall.

Like it.
This pond filter features a great insulation function because it is made of high-quality ABS material. We can easily rotate the top switch to sewage. We can use different sizes of drain holes for the water pipe adaptors which is very convenient for different people’s situations. The pond filter really makes the water clean. Like it.
