I think these holders are great but mine did need some changes to make the tool useable on a daily basis.For years I have used the komelon tape clips, which have a tendency to fail after a few years. I got the latest version of the komelon clip the other day and it is terrible which prompted me to check what else was out there.Here are the modifications I made to the spider clip:I had to sand the face of the belt clip section. My clips were very stiff and binding on the two faces. It made it so you needed two hands to get the tape off the clip. I added paraffin wax but it's not necessary, just sand to the highest grit you have. The tapes slide in and out very easily now.The very top portion of the belt clip has a sharp harsh edge that your thumb presses against when releasing the tape. I sanded this to be much flatter and give a greater surface area.I initially thought that the release button should be in a downward motion rather than an upwards motion, letting you slide the tape out easier. However, after a few days on site I have adapted to the release mechanism very quickly.Applying the clip part to the tape measure: I removed the original belt clip on the tape and used a sharp chisel to remove all of the raised areas around where the screw hole is. I sanded to get it as flat and smooth as possible before applying the clip.It's good quality 3M sticky backed but there is a screw hole to go directly into the tape. I think this is going to be plenty.I will be buying some more of these but I do wish that packs of the clips were sold (with the screw holes). I think these could be modified more easily to fit more tools. The velcro options that wrap around handles don't appeal to me

A great device which has a strong clip to belt so it is secure. Also secure is the tape hold and release mechanism which has now ended my previous annoyance and frustration of the tape leaving my belt when bending down etc as it often did.

This spider holster is realy cool .I realy enjoy having my tape measure on me all the time and not somewhere deep in my pocket digging in to my hips as it use ti be big issue for me ... Now it makes me feel a bit like some western cowboy when i pull it out of holster in o,5seconds to measure something 😁 only the clipp on the belt could be a bit softer or covered by rubber from the inside ,because it rubs in to skin after a whole day wearing it, and then I have to move it to different position..overall realy great product!!! I would recommend to get it if you are builder specialy carpenters would love this..

Ive used 2 types now, the other broke 3 times , this ond is the best . part metal constructtuon on the clip makes it ao muxh better

The idea is great but the VBH tape is not strong enough for a strong hold. I have ripped the tape off the holder from brushing against scaffolding and other obstacles. A more permanent use tape would be better.Revision. I have used a very good 2 pack epoxy with the both surfaces cleaned with IPA and its now rock solid.

A chisel and file can flatten out the stock clip groove so that the spider clip adhesive can stick flat against the tape measure body.Functions well so far, I can jump down into a trench without the tape falling from my waist now.
