the other reviews aren't kidding. this is a very large jar for what comes inside. its only about 1/4 full - but you only need that much in there! this is BY FAR the most potent menthol oil i have ever touched. just rubbing your finger on the solid creates a cool refreshing feeling. i have horrible night sweats so i mix this 50/50 with coconut oil and rub on my shoulders and neck before bed and it keeps me cool for hours. if i wake up again, i repeat and im usually good after that. i love the cooling sensation i get from it. i eucalyptus EO in the past and it was barely cutting it. this stuff, worth every penny. wish there was more in the jar though. its ok. ill keep buying for sure!! highly recommend.

I originally was going to give this a 1 star when I was melting the crystals down. I was attempting to make a homemade gold bond menthol lotion. I melted them down in a small Rubbermaid reusable container. (like one for salad dressing) I put in about a tablespoon of oil in the microwave to heat it, I then put the whole bottle of crystals into the very warm oil and they melted just fine, I was transferring this to a glass bottle so that I can use it with a dropper and make lotion that way. Thought nothing of it when some spilled, I rubbed it on an itchy part of my leg. didnt feel a thing. Decided to dump all of the melted mix into the lotion bottle cause I thought that it wasnt working. In the mean time rubbed some on my arms, and the other leg....After about 2-3 minutes it hit me. Boy did it hit me. Went to take a shower to wash off and it got really cool feeling.

Two things you'll read in these reviews:- Yes, it's a solid (it's not a semi-solid at room temp). If you drop it in hot water it'll melt and then you can use it. That's how it's supposed to work.- Yes, it's in a jar that is only 1/4 full. I don't know why, but the quantity stated is correct.OK, that said, this is really, really powerful stuff. Handle with care. Just opening the cap will result in you getting some on your hands, then anything you touch (better not be your eye!) will be on fire for an hour.I melted it down and poured it into my favorite lotion (which I wish had menthol in it). Shake. Perfect.

I needed to acquire some menthol to combine with hydrocortisone cream to make my own supply of a combination topical that's become very difficult to find. This jar of menthol got me there. A couple of things, though. Didn't matter to me, but the container is completely different from the one pictured. It's a wider, shorter container with a conventional screw lid. Second, and this is just for the buyer's information, it is not a liquid. It's a solid...a sort of cloudy crystalline mass. So, in order to liquify it, I put the jar of menthol in a bowl of very hot water. It partially melted the menthol, so I could just pour it into the mixture I was making. You do have to handle it carefully. I have to believe getting just a trace of it the eye would be pretty uncomfortable.

This is an awesome menthol! My 1st jar was a complete solid, not crystals, and I really loved it! My 2nd and 3rd jars were crystalline in Nature.Either way, this is awesome menthol! And, since you're melting it, I'm sure that crystals or solids don't matter at all!Also, I was reading the reviews, and I had to laugh at the people who are complaining about how big the jar is! I personally don't think that the jar has anything to do with product efficacy. It's not like an ENORMOUS jar or anything. If I had to guess, the seller probably bought 1 size jar, for the different-sized amounts that they sell. It's not ridiculously large, say like a Mason jar.And, I like that it's a GLASS jar, with an easily screw lid.It's very powerful menthol, and does what I want it to do; crystals, solid, or slightly large jar, it works GREAT.

Exactly as pictured, (bottle not full and a hard solid) and works extremely well when mixed with an appropriate carrier oil. Boosts other essential oils for absorption, a couple of drops per oz is a good starting point. Directions included how to melt in microwave in 10 second intervals, covered with a napkin or paper towel. Delivery was faster than I expected.

Really strong. The only surprise was how compressed the product is. I had to use a knife to scrap it out. But, it works really well!

Whoa-hooo, this is WAY smaller than I expected. And... it’s just okay. I added only 3-4 drops to a half cup of homemade toothpaste and I couldn’t notice ANY menthol. Wound up using nearly the entire jar and my toothpaste is still just *kinda* menthol-y. Meh.
