Not sure why I bought it but it works
High quality, heavy and sharp. It is a little on the small size. Would definitely recommend if you need one.

I got my money's worth of high carbon stain-resistant German steel
I thought this cleaver was made in Taiwan, but the one I received had "Spain" marked on it. Whichever country it came from, I feel I got my money's worth of high carbon stain-resistant German steel. This thing is heavy! It looks a bit funny because the handle is very long in comparison with the blade. However, it does its job as a meat cleaver beautifully. I use it to split a whole chicken in half for faster roasting. With a large raw center cut roast, I use it to cut a few 1/2" slices and then sliver the remainder for stir-frying. Before seasoning and pan-frying, I use the back of the cleaver to pound the 1/2" slices to tenderize them. The cleaver is also sharp enough for making paper-thin slices of beef for use in a "hot pot" (sukiyaki in Japanese, or shabu-shabu in Korean). For home-made ground pork, I use it to finely chop the sliced pork. What more can one ask for in a meat cleaver? (Author of "Tame Migraine the Delicious Way")

Hefty without being too heavy
Came sharp, but I sharpened it on a 1200 grit diamond wheel and it cuts through anything that gets in the way. Sharp cleavers have so many uses in the kitchen … this one is well made, balanced, not too big or heavy and should last forever.

Nice weight, exactly what I wanted
It doesn’t look fancy but the size, weight and quality steel make it nicely functional and durable, exactly what I needed.I had bought two of the Dalstrong cleavers in the past, but they’re are Chinese made, low quality, regardless of being labelled “German steel” or “Japanese steel”.This cleaver is made in Portugal.
