Cen-Tec Systems99506 Low Voltage Central Vacuum, 35 Ft. Hose, Dark Gray

Long and light
We have a large house with three central vacuum points on each of three floors. The hose that came with the 40-year-old Hoover system reaches about 90 percent of what we need to vacuum. Annoying, but we've put up with it for years and used a shop vacuum for the other 10 percent. We had to lug the hose up and down stairs, so we may be purchasing more hoses and store one one each floor. At first we thought that a 50-foot hose would be too long and too heavy. Since the low-voltage hose we purchased doesn't have high-voltage wiring in it, it's far lighter than the OEM Hoover hose. With a 50-foot hose, three vacuum points per floor cover the entire house including in corners and along the ceilings. Two points cover vacuuming floors only. The hose material may be slightly thinner or made of a different material, so one may need to be extra careful not to kink or crush it.Although it works well, I don't find a need for the hose-end suction adjustment feature. We removed the plastic adjustment piece and taped over the hole. Most central vacuums have more powerful suction than stand-alone vacuums do, so consider this before doing what we did. There is a depressible button on the handle for securing attachments, but we've found friction-fit attachments suit our needs and stay attached.REMEMBER -- this is NOT an electrified hose, so any electrically powered attachments will not work with this hose without a separate power cord. And, of course, it cannot be used to vacuum water or liquids. The hose switch turns your central vacuum motor on and off, but not the electrically powered attachments. You will need a powered hose or a separate 50-foot line-voltage cord to use them. Otherwise use either suction-powered or unpowered attachments. Some commentators have noted issues with the plastic components. While our OEM hose is heavier and has endured 40 years of use, the new hose is lighter and apparently made with a different plastic. I think that careful use and storage of our new hose should give many years of vacuuming pleasure (if there is such a thing).

50 ft is too long... lose suction... get 30ft
Had I thought about it for a few minutes I would have figured this out. 50ft requires a lot of suction. We recently replaced our central vacuum motor with a unit 2x more powerful as the last one (new motor is rated for 10k sqft house, house is 3.5k sqft). With this hose the suction is barely higher than the last motor when I was using a 20ft hose. I suggest you get a 30-35ft hose. Also, I purchased the “matching” wand on amazon and it doesn’t appear to match. There is a push-button notch on the handle which doesn’t have a matching hole to punch into on the wand. Lame.

Innovative Design, Much Better than the Original Hose
Works very well with my older Filtex whole house central vac system: the ergonomic handle is an unexpected pleasure. On and off handle switch turns off the vacuum system remotely from the handle instead of having to unplug the hose from the wall. The hose crush resistance is less than the original 25 year old hose....but then this is really not a factor for me because I don't stand on the hose. The upside is that the new hose is lighter....

Best one I have used
This is the first time I used this brand. I needed to replace my hose. It works great and I found it has a better fit into the wall outlet. My old hose used to swing around and it was very annoying. This hose stays in place and I found the suction was much better. Very happy so far. I have only used it once. If I find an issue I will update my review.

Cheaper made hose. Nice size for the price but you get what you pay for.
It's a decent hose. It's pretty light for being a 50 ft hose, but that comes at a cost. That cost is that it kinks really easy. It's a cheaper hose that is ok quality. My other hose is the original 23+year old hose and it's starting to show its age. I dont expect this hose to last half as long.

Kinks a lot and handle broke from normal use..
Hose kinks constantly. Handle broke for no reason imho due to a design flaw/cheap materials. this part of the handle should be at a minimum reinforced or preferably solid. I gave low score for suction power as that has nothing to do with the hose.. these do nothing to impove or reduce suction.

Cheap and broke after only a couple of uses
Do not buy this product. I am back to the duct tape repair which is why I needed a new hose to begin with. Quality is not what I expected at all from this company. HOSE IS CHEAP. I finally heard back from the company. They are sending a replacement hose so I am changing my rating. Hopefully this hose is not defected as well.

scary box new like used ,,,,,but overall its great :)
works out of that yucky box ... the box was almost too scary too open but sure enough the product was new like Amazon said just had to get past that part and its working better than my other shorter hose which confirms that one is cracked .
