I didn’t know this existed
I haven’t tried this because there is 3’ of snow on the ground currently but it looks like it will keep me from being on my hands and knees looking though the grass to find my brass. It came in the original packaging and it was all tore up from the post office delivering it but that’s not the seller’s fault, I was just happy it was all there. Very sturdy construction. Hopefully it works as well as I think it will. Update: I tried this product out when I went shooting in July and had mixed results. It works pretty good to pick up bigger casings like 9mm and up but not so well with .22’s in the grass. Hard surfaces are no problem but it’s the grass that has the issue. Otherwise I think it’s a decent product and will keep using it.

Very Effective
I read several reviews and was worried about purchasing this product. I had the opportunity to try it out today. I used it in loose but densely packed soil as well as in grassy areas. The key seems to be the angle you hit the brass at and whether it is somehow held in place. The only force used to pull the brass into the cage is the spring tension of the basket itself. Applying excess force to the handle will not help. I picked up 3 pounds of mixed brass at my gun club today. I'll use it tomorrow in an area with a different soil and vegetation mix tomorrow. I expect similarly solid results. A tip from my experiences today. Use a couple of .45 shell slid to either end of a wire section to easily empty the brass into a container.

This thing is great
Sure beats picking them up by hand. It’s not perfect, and it doesn’t get all the brass all the time, but it gets 85%-90% of them, which is a lot better than picking up 100% of them by hand. A piece gets hung up from time to time and it will spit a few back out, but like I said it’s not perfect. Name one thing in this life that is.I don’t know about the piece that is supposed to hook on the side of the bucket and spread the wires to empty the brass. It seems to me that just grabbing the thing and spreading the wires by hand and shaking it a few times is quicker, easier and a hellofa lot les complicated. But that’s just me.Handle is a little flimsy, and the tension extensions don’t stay tight, but you can thread a regular or adjustable paint roller extension on to the wire cage and solve that problem if it bothers you that much.I’m glad I bought it, but it’s a little pricey so I hope it lasts for a few years.

Great Product
Picks up .22 rim fire -45-70 centerfire cases. I. keep what I want to reload and take the rest to the scrap yard for cash. Works great on all hard surfaces-on stones some of the small cases take a little extra effort. It is well made and easy to use. I picked up about 200 -9mm cases on flat surface in a few minutes. It is fun and I would recomend.

The handle is garbage.
This product works pretty decent once you figure it out. I had read that the handle isn't very good, that was an understatement. Part of mine would not lock right out of the box and has all kinds of slop. It now has tape on it until I come up with a new handle. Seems that for the price, it should come with a decent handle.

What a timesaver
Doesn’t work the best on grass, but still better than bending over for every piece. Works great on a solid surface. Extendable handle has its uses, but would be a little better if it was more rigid.

Crawling around for brass still
This this is.... MehDevices like these were meant to pickup 3D "roundish" objects, not cylinders.Doesn't eat up the brass like I thought it would. Leaves behind about 3/4 the brass you roll-over. That's because the brass pieces have got to be in near perfect alignment with the metal grates in order for them to be swallowed up. I found myself alot of the time simply "dabbing" this thing on the ground - where I'd allign the slits of the catcher with the orientation of brass. That's great for picking up only your brass/caliber in a multishooter range, but is very slow. This thing was supposed to save time. Can't handle clusters of brass. Even if the device is empty, if the amount of brass you're rolling over is high(heck not even that) it won't pick up anything. Because all it takes is one MISALIGNED piece to keep em all out and the cage will simply push the brass around. And additionally (things got alot of problems) if you roll-over a caliber that is LARGER than the ones you got in the cage - it's larger size can "allow" for SEVERAL of the smaller ones to escape, PITA!The handle locking mechanism is pretty weak, poor manufacturing tolerances. I've worked with IV poles that could hold loaded-up pumps with ease and not fail. Alot of times the thing just collapses unexpectedly leading me to distrust this product especially considering how it's supposed to be used.Got a very limited capacity, or rather let's say... the same mechanism that lets brass in ALSO lets them out. Most I've gotten in one pickup was about 18 pieces before the "drop-out" rate became too excessive. ANNOYING, cuz you gotta remember to keep it aligned with brass on the ground, watch out for that handle locking mechanism, try not to sweep the prices around, watch out for 45 acp. This thing is more work!

I like it
Works great for almost all casings. It's a bit more difficult to pick up .22 casings though, but it still works on them. Bring a bucket because it comes with a wire bracket you attach to the bucket to help empty out the casings. If there were a little more wires in the roller, it would pick up .22 casings much better.
