I've taken a couple of classes using soft pastels for art - the first was an in-person class and grant money had paid for quality pastels for us to use. I purchased an inexpensive set and took another class online, but wasn't too happy with the way they worked...realized later they were labeled firm rather than very soft. I saw a recommendation for this brand as being good quality for the price and decided to buy them. Just took another class online - and yes, these are very soft and worked well for me. I'm still a beginner but it's nice to not be hampered by the quality of the materials! And there's a good variety of colors which was nice.

I bought these to use coloring polymer clay. I just shave some off and apply with a paint brush. It's easy to blend colors to get just the result I'm looking for. Glad I decided to give this technique and this product a try. I can't comment on other (untried) applications, but recommend these for the purpose I bought them for.

They’re tiny. I didn’t know that as I didn’t take the time to read the full description. My fault. With that being said, they work for my needs. I scrap a bit off to make a powder for shading polymer clay. Works beautifully!

Well to be honest I was really shocked at how teeny tiny these are I'm a little disappointed in that I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them yet. The colors are vibrant I purchased them to do backgrounds on my color books especially my Johanna basford. I took a picture so you can see the size with a regular prismacolor pencil and then also with two coins. If you're not going to do a whole lot this is probably a really good value they are very soft they're very chalky and I mean when I open the box there was color everywhere. I'm going to have to test them out and see if they're worth me keeping, because I intend to use it for a lot of backgrounds I'm just not sure if the amount that was received is going to be enough for me. There's not enough of a piece there to break unless you drop them, I mean they're tiny

These are perfect for beginners of all ages. I am a professional artist and an art teacher who was looking for a product to recommend for my adult students. This is it! Medium softness plus it comes with two hard pastels which is a great bonus. Amazing price. Don’t even hate these for my own works and I am a snob.
