This item was purchased to replace an existing keypad lock that had started to fail to open after several years. This lock immediately felt more robust than the old lock but also in a smaller form factor. The all-metal construction feels really solid and the buttons operate with a satisfyingly robust mechanical click. The system for changing the combination is straightforward once you understand the principle, and I was easily able to program a new shorter code than the factory default to match the existing one that was used.The unit I was replacing had and identical larch mechanism and mounting screw positions, so replacement was very easy. For new installations they include a handy template to enable you to drill appropriate mounting holes. The instructions overall weren't bad, although I didn't see reference to that fact that you can adjust which way the internal handle operates by removing a screw from the inner rear of it from one hole to another to get the handle to turn correctly for the handedness and swing of your door.It's smooth to operate, and although firm the buttons are not too difficult to push. The lock looks good, but of course only time will tell how it stands up to the weather, but the build quality gives me no reason to think it won't last a long time. Recommended.

Excellent quality. Solid and looks weatherproof. Easy to fit if you take time to study the instructions. It helps to have the right sized drills. The code is easy to change if you need to with the tweezers supplied but note you cannot create a sequence, only a change of numbers and letters - it won't matter in what order they are entered. I would definitely buy another if I need one.

You need a hacksaw to cut the locking spindle to the right length. The instructions suggest you just choose the correct length spindle, but only one is provided.You need to install the spindle with the supplied spring correctly. The instructions have no mention of the spring.If you do not fit these correctly you are in extreme danger of locking yourself into the room.It took me 4 hours to finally install correctly.Looking on the internet, there are essentially two types of this combination lock. The instructions and diagrams and part list were for the other type. I am reasonably capable mechanically so was lucky to be able to work it all out.I would advise, do not touch this with a bargepole unless you really are confident about your DIY skills.As sold, this product is DANGEROUS.

I decided to install one of these on a shed door and asked my Dad to help with the installation because he's fairly experienced with DIY and has all the necessary tools.The first attempt took us 3-4 hours, and left the door without a lock and looking a bit like swiss cheese. For starters, the template provided didn't match the instructions. It mentioned 6 x 10mm holes, and then only showed one. We carried on regardless, assuming the alternative template would work.We pinned the template to the door, carefully drilled all the required holes and found that nothing lined up correctly. This caused many issues when we had to screw the two sides of the lock together, because you have to feed the screw through the back, pass through the door and into the front of the lock. At this point it's near impossible to see anything, and you have to rely on the holes being absolutely perfect to feed the screw into the correct place. We could get one screw in, but then either the spindle or the other screw was completely out of place and we had to take it all apart again.After getting frustrated with it all, we came back the next day, partially repaired the door and started again. This time we abandoned the template, and drilled the holes using the instructions and back of the lock for positioning. This took us another 2 hours, and did result in us getting the lock on the door.We loosely fitted both side of the lock, checked everything was working, then when we were confident that it all moved freely, secured the lock to the door. However, when tightened, the latch now seems to jam if you open the door using the keypad. In order to lock the door again, you have to wiggle the release on the back of the door a few times for the latch to pop back out enough to allow the lock to function.I'm not entirely sure how so many other people have had such flawless and "easy" installations. We found it tedious, time consuming and pretty fiddly. As something still doesn't seem to be quite in alignment I assume it won't be long before we decide to take it all to pieces to try and resolve the issue, or abandon the lock all together and try something else.Perhaps if you get someone experienced with locks to fit it you'll have a different experience. But I'm not sure it was worth the 6 hours outside in January to get something that still doesn't properly work
