Unfortunately, the first bulb was defective and did not even try to light up. I tested the socket and all was fine on my equip end. Luckily, I had paid the extra dollar and ordered as Prime with free returns, so I requested a replacement to try again.The second bulb was also defective, although it would make “pop, pop” noises continually trying to light up. I tried reseating it, flipping it over, letting it run awhile to see if it would “warm up”, all with no luck. Returning this one as well.I do note that both bulbs were shipped without any real padding to protect them. Idk if that contributed to the failures or not. I’ve included a picture of the first bulb; it just had a thin cardboard sheath wrapped around the bulb, then into its box. This was just dropped into an Amazon padded envelope and shipped; no other padding.Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this bulb.

Changed my review. Went to replace bulb in fish tank filter. Had new bulb in hand. New bulb wouldn't light up...I know base good because old bulb lights up ok. Replacing old bulb because over time they lose their effectiveness. This new bulb must be bad...both old n new are 5w bulbs. Going to get brand name build I guess.

Once installed my germ guardian will no longer stay powered on for longer than 20 secs. Item is defective - 2nd one I've purchased and neither worked.

Dead on arrival

First bulb didn't work on arrival. They sent a replacement. The replacement didn't work on arrival either. Duds. I really wanted to find a good replacement for my Germ Guardian - I will have to keep searching...

The ceramic lining was broken, the powder insulation was coming out and there was what look like solder droplets strewn about the glass interior. Quality control appears to be a roll of the dice with this product.

Inicialmente notifiqué que no funcionaba pues parpadeaba continuamente.En una reinstalación posterior pude comprobar que se debía a un error de instalación de mi parte al no introducir la pestaña bien hacia su derecha o sea de hecho el interruptor no estaba en posición correcta o de encendido.Luego solo hay que resetearlo apretando el botón de encendído exterior durante 3 segundos.

Last purchased in dec 2019. Lasted a little over a year of constant on, so not quite 10,000hrs. Made sure to wear cloth gloves to ensure no fingerprints.Still, at $9USD, not a bad buy.

Works now let see how long it last.
