Very Sturdy and Works Great!
I have had other garlic presses before that basically did nothing. I am perfectly happy with this one, as it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and it is very easy to clean. It is constructed very well. Very easy to use and not uncomfortable in your hand.

simplifies chopped garlic, not good for paste
Its mostly been said: this is a well designed, very sturdy stainless steel garlic press that works well and should last a long time.I will say that the garlic pieces that pass through the press are very large compared to the previous model I had. This is fine -even preferable- for many recipes that call for a saute of chopped garlic. When you get tiny pieces like from my earlier press, the garlic can cook too quickly and burn very easily. However, we really like to make sauces/marinades from fresh garlic, and I think those benefit from the tiny pieces, almost paste-like consistency that comes out the end. The paste-like output is especially good when making a Caprese salad, where you pour olive oil and garlic/herbs over fresh tomatoes & mozzarella. Just made a Caprese salad using garlic I pressed with this press and it was far too chunky. But there is a partial solution for when you want a finer consistency: just slowly press the garlic, and use a sharp knife to shave the pieces coming through the metal strainer. This pretty much does the trick to getting a finer output that doesnt seem too chunky for use is a dipping sauce or similar. For the low price, you could buy a different one for a paste output as well.

Very well made of actual stainless steel
I really like this garlic press. It's easy to use, works well and is by far the easiest to clean garlic press I have ever owned. Earlier, I purchased another garlic press, that falsely claimed to be dishwasher-safe stainless steel. It was actually made of zinc that was coated with a material that started to flake off the first time it was put in the dishwasher. This one is absolutely genuine stainless steel, dishwasher safe.I highly recommend this product.

So Far, Pretty Good
The media could not be loaded. These are first impressions after initial use. I may update after continued use.The press is stainless steel, so it won't leach any coatings into food and is in theory dishwasher safe. It has fewer working parts than America's Test Kitchen's favorite, the Kuhn Rikon, which exploded on me after only a few uses. This one seems more robust.I like the square holes. They are easy to clean out with a fork tine or toothpick. I expect I'll lose the included brush rather quickly. The piece size is uniform and comparable to what I get when I chop garlic. The pieces cook evenly. There is not as much juice lost as with some other presses. It seemed to work pretty well with both peeled and unpeeled cloves. There was less garlic squishing out of the sides than with the Kuhn Rikon. Peeling the cloves reduced the side squeeze-out.I don't usually trust presses with ginger, but I tried a piece of peeled ginger with this one, and though it juiced the pieces before pressing the flesh through, I was surprised at how well it did.One thing that may become an issue is that the plate was slightly deformed in whatever process was used to create it (stamping?) , so it scratches the plunger.

Stainless Steel & does a great job.
Great little tool. This stainless steel garlic press is just what I've been looking for. It's sturdy, and crushes multiple (small to medium) cloves of garlic at once. The design makes it easy to use for my medium sized hands, and cleaning is a breeze. A thin layer of garlic remains in the press but it's easy to remove and use or discard. I've only used it a few times and will update this review if necessary.Update: It's October 2022 and my garlic press is still working perfectly.

Tackle the biggest cloves, square holes are boss, uber-strong design, a bit tough to release basket
I am really into cooking and fresh garlic. I come from generations of restauranteurs, and am gettin' old so I have seen some garlic presses. This one is almost perfect. The wide handles distribute the force evenly and make it easy to use. The screen is huge and the basket is large enough to accommodate huge cloves. The stainless steel is thick, the design is super-strong, the square screen is so efficient! It passes through almost all the goodies and just leaves the dry fiber out. Only the newer version of the OXO press has any aspect that is superior, and it's just one aspect: unlike old presses, the newest ones have two handles and a basket-and-screen between them; all three elements pivot on an axle. After you press the garlic you must release the basket and screen on these new style presses from the upper handle and on this tool the area you press on with the edge of your thumb to do that is considerably smaller than with the OXO, so for unusual folks who are actually pressing over 20 cloves at a batch and trying to do it fast, its a bit wearing on the edge of your thumb. Other than that, this press's incredibly strong, simple, easy to sanitize design makes it perfect in my book. (OXO gets water under then handle if you dishwash it, and the handles have much more useless flex to them from the rubber, and the thin single element design , the screen is about the same (rectangular holes with a large area) but the basket is considerably smaller. Both are good but the simple strong design of this one wins out.

Cannot recommend due to a key design flaw
I wanted to love this because it feels very sturdy and crushes the garlic well. But every time you open the press, the compartment for the garlic swings upward with the handle so you have to manually bring it down every single time you open the press. Had they just made it so that the compartment was attached to the bottom handle, and it wouldn't move all the time, it would have been perfect. Such a shame, was so close to being perfect. But because of this, I could not recommend this product.
