Align Rite DG-102 Shelf Hinge and Pin Drill Guide with 1/4-Inch Holes

Anyway you do it, drilling or plunge routing shelf pinholes with a jig is tedious and slow compared to usinga line boring machine. The irony is that the jig isthe boring way to do it and the boring machine isthe fun way to do it.This is a well-made jig with hardened bushings foreach hole. It doesn't come with a bit.I had a plastic jig from Rockler and it used Vix-typebits, which won't drill on perfect 32mm centers.Today there are a lot of shelf pin jigs on the marketand some nice plunge routers too. The routers are probablyfaster, but they are noisy. The drill jigs like this one canbe used in an already installed cabinet where usinga router would be difficult and more messy.I never tried this jig with a drill press but with alittle thought I think a setup could be made using thisjig to drill holes faster than a plunge router andwith less noise or potential for error using a drillpress. The hardened bushings would help it holdaccuracy for a long time.

For the price I paid I expected at least 1 brad point bit and stop collar with the guide.
