I was able to use these to mount a thick solid wood shelf that weighs about 5 lbs and supports another 1-2 pounds. I got away with just using one bracket mounted to a stud by chiseling/routing a notch for the base plate to sit flush inside on the back of the shelf. I would recommend using 2” construction screws instead of the ones provided.

I did a ton of research for our floating shelf brackets and these were the winner. They are designed to screw directly into the joist, which is exactly what you want. Then you have to Sheetrock over them. That is necessary for it to hold the weight level. This pair has a fairly large dowel so your board has to be roughly an inch and a half. The top shelf in the photo we used these. The bottom needed smaller ones.

The brackets were perfect size and sturdiness for a small floating live edge shelf I was installing. Unfortunately the anchors provided did not work and had to buy other anchors (fairly large because the holes for the provided anchors were quite large). In the end, the project came out well.

These worked great to hang our open shelving.

The hangers themselves are great and sturdy. However, the screws are very cheap and I broke the heads off of several trying to screw them into drywall. The anchors are the same length of the screw and don't do what anchors are supposed to do. Keep this in mind if you're selling a mounted project to a client. I was lucky I was mounting the piece personally and was able to get better screws and anchors. Once this was fixed, there was no issue.

The product is trash. Improper drywall anchors that were literally too big for the given screws, and were not flush with the wall. The screws stripped within seconds, and I had to use pliers to manually remove the screw from the wall and stud. Spend the extra money and buy a quality product that won’t waste an hour + of your time.

It took some planning as to how to measure and install but turned out really good. It was a 2 man job to make sure they were level and mark the bracket holes at the same time. I used blue tape to mark where each shelf would go and to mark the holes.

Was able to support a heavy 18 inch piece of live edge lumber with ease.
