Perfect size, comfortable
Love this bag! Small enough to stay out of my way while casting, but plenty of storage for boxes of flies. The front pocket is the perfect size for my reel (granted it’s on the smaller side - any bigger and it may not zip), and the clip loops are sturdy and well placed. It’s very lightweight, and the neck strap sits very comfortably.

Great value, nice pack!
I just received it a couple days ago. I've not actually used it yet but my first impressions are very good. It appears to be well made. There are no sloppy loose seams. Zippers work effortlessly and smooth. It's a perfect size for me. My previous chest pack was too large. There are just enough attachment points for how I set it up. I have 2 maxima spools and a large fly box in the larger rear compartment. My leaders are there in a back mesh compartment. I found the tippett holder that's sewn into the front compartment useless and a space waster. I cut it out. Its light and comfortable. The neck pad has the same kind of mesh my old pack has and its irritating to my neck. I will attach some kind of more suitable lambs wool padding on top. .So far I'm very pleased. I will report back about durability later this coming summer. What a bargain!!!

Seems nice but did not work for my purposes
I'm not a fly fisher-- I'm an entomologist. I was excited about this chest pack because it had the little zip-down shelf pocket and I figured I could use that to write field labels. I wasn't wrong (although it was difficult to zip and unzip, and it didn't zip down to flat like I'd anticipated) but the pack itself was far too thin for my purposes. They list the height and length of the pack, but not its depth. You can fit a tackle box in there (I tried the one I keep for rearing grubs) so don't worry if that's your concern! But if you want to fit a kill jar or large aspirator (like Mike Ferro's Scholar's Aspirator [Hamuli, Volume 11 issue 2, if you're interested!]) I would advise looking elsewhere. I ended up getting a binocular chest pack.TL;DR: it's nice and seems well-made. The neck strap on the one I got was a little prickly, but that seemed to just be a minor sewing defect. It will fit a tackle box, and the little foam thing for sticking flies in seems sturdy. If you want to put thicker things in it, it won't work, unfortunately. Tackle box is about the max depth it'll hold.

Great Little Pack
This chest pack is great! It holds just the right amount of gear for a day wading trip. It protrudes out a bit when it is completely full, but it's nothing that has gotten in my way. The only issue that I have run into is the neck strap sliding around when my net is attached to it. It's not terrible but sometimes it ends up over on your shoulder instead of behind your neck. Other than that this thing is a great value for the money. If you are looking for a well made but inexpensive, lightweight, durable, convient chest pack to hold your fly fishing gear, then this is for you!

Just right for a day of fly fishing
I purchased the Fall River Chest Pack after returning the Allen Bear Creek pack, which was a bit too small for my needs. The Fall River pack strikes for me the perfect balance between compactness and utility, and I've spent many days wading lakes and rivers with it comfortably strapped to my chest. There are certainly larger packs available, but I find that everything I need other than my lunch fits into this pack and keeps me from feeling overburdened and unbalanced when fishing. I usually have 3 or 4 fly boxes in the main compartment, and 4 or 5 spools of tippet in the zippered front pouch, which has a tippet holder attached. in the other zippered pockets I keep extra leaders, strike indicators and split shot containers. I use the rings on either side of the main pouch to attach hemostat, dry fly oil, and nippers on zingers. My landing net with magnetic release is clipped via carabiner to the big O-ring on the back of the neck strap pad, and when attached helps balance the weight evenly on my shoulders. The waist belt keeps everything from shifting as I move about, and serves as a safety belt for my waders. This is the second Fall River pack I've purchased--I lost the neck strap to the first one when my kayak overturned in a creek and I had it detached. My second pack encountered a sewing problem on the neck strap and Allen Company promptly sent me a new pack. I couldn't be happier with their customer service. If you like to fly fish and travel light, I highly recommend the Allen Fall River Chest Pack.

Just Right
Comfortable and a nice size for a frontloader. Nice little "work pocket".

No customer support here
The Chest pack was exactly what I was looking for and I can't wait to hit the streams with it this spring. I am very disappointed though that the velcro on the back of the fly patch was not fully sewn on and when I reached out to Allen customer service for a replacement patch I haven't to date recieved a response or replacement fly patch. So the 3 star review is not for the product ,its for the lack of customer support for their product.

Great for the value. Little small, but works well.
Got one for myself and my dad (father’s day) and have not been disappointed. Little smaller than expected, but fits all that I need. It will not hold both the dry flies and the wet flies, so I switch out depending on what I need for the day. Comfortable, durable, and good value as far as I’m concerned. My dad loves his too.
