Birds Choice Hummerfest 12 oz Hanging Hummingbird Feeder - NP1002, Red, Plus Bonus Pack of Nectar

We had 6 hummingbird feeders and a lot of regular hummingbird customers but then all of a sudden: Bees. Lots of bees. We want the bees to be happy, but don't want hummers to be stung or driven off, and bees had pretty much taken over the upside-down bottle type feeders, plus were starting to infringe on the regular saucer feeders. After researching and looking for alternatives, I found this one and thought we'd give it a try. Success - within seconds of my putting it out, the hummingbirds were using it, and sure enough, the bees gave it a pass after a brief fly-by. After a week of using it with great results, I ordered 3 more. Now we're running a hummingbird restaurant! The feeder is very nicely made, and the way that the interior water moat is made is much better than on the regular saucer style feeders.

In past I have used the Perky Pet 8-ounce bottle feeders exclusively because hummingbirds recognize them as a food source. However, for some reason the birds were ignoring them this year. So, I got this feeder. The birds love it as do I. With only three parts, including the hanger, it is simple to clean and fill. And I like that all birds are visible no matter where on the feeder they are. The feeder is somewhat on the expensive side, but well worth it.

This is a great feeder, but I started to attract bees with it.I took it away from one bee and poured some of the nectar out and rinsed the lid off. Minutes later I returned it. The bee was still there and flew around to each of the ports, It few up in the air between port visits and circled around really fast like it was mad. But after several more tries it flew away.I do now need to watch to be sure the humming birds use it with a slightly lower nectar level. A bird came right after and also flew to each of the ports as well, but drank from my other feeder instead.Their beaks are long and their tongues are long. But we also have Jays around that eat hummingbirds. So they are wary. I hope they are able to get a quick drink and be safe.This literally just happened, so we will see....

We’ve had it a week, and humming birds have found it are are feeding from it regularly.The ant moat works - it has kept bugs out of the nectar.The best part is that this style doesn’t leak- the cover joint is above the nectar. We got this to replace one of the vertical types where the cap screws on the bottom. (We had all sorts of trouble with those leaking.)Tip: this unit doesn’t have the yellow blossom inserts that many hummingbird feeders do. I think that is why the birds didn’t seem that interested in it until after we took all of the old leaky ones (with the yellow on them) down- now they use the new one all the time!

The shipping on the product was slightly delayed, but once we got the feeder us and our hummers could not be happier! The nectar that comes with the feeder is more complex than your basic table sugar and is better for the birds, and they can obviously tell that too based on their favoring of this feeder and nectar. It’s great to always be able to see the bird no matter where they are in the feeder, and it’s really easy to clean and use. One of our female broad tailed hummers loves the feeder so much she used the rod it’s hanging from to select her mate; so we got a front row seat to their mating dances. I plan on buying another one next year, and you should too

Because this feeder comes apart easily it can be cleaned each time we change the nectar solution. I do recommend a shade cover to make sure the solution does not get hot. The ant mote is a bit small so we purchased a large ant mote one that holds nearly a cup and really works. Looks nice and most important the humming birds love it.

I have 3 different hummingbird feeders hanging next to each other but all the birds go for this one. This is my second one because a squirrel jumped on the previous one crashing it down on the lower deck. I had had it for 3 years. So if you don't have species inappropriate critters attacking the feeder, it should last a very very long time. The polycarbonate is the highest quality and the birds love sitting on the perches.

This is a very easy hummingbird feeder to fill and clean. It also looks quite attractive. It has a see through bottom so you can watch the hummingbirds better. I fill my feeders frequently as I take care to wash the feeders. This feeder holds just the right amount of liquid in it so there is little waste. The disc shape is a favorite of hummingbirds.
