Still reading but it’s changing me already
I’ve been on a healing and transformation journey with Jesus for many years now. Weight has been an issue since giving birth to my kids. Now that I’m heavy and aging I’m realizing that I made my body and looks an idol. This book is helping me reorder my thinking. On page 45 the author says, “A child labeled a beauty in her younger years can often battle with as many body image issues as one who was teased. Having received great attention, admiration and acceptance for her looks, her self-worth often becomes inextricably linked with her appearance. She may do whatever it takes later in life to continue to get the attention this way.”This has been the story of my life. Praise God I found this book. I’m looking forward to a life of freedom!!

"You Are Not What You Weigh" is a book by Lisa Bevere that focuses on body image, self-worth, and self-acceptance. The book challenges the cultural emphasis on physical appearance and weight, and encourages readers to look beyond the number on the scale to find true identity and value.Bevere addresses the pressures and expectations placed on individuals to conform to certain beauty standards and societal norms regarding body image. She emphasizes that one's worth and identity are not defined by their weight or physical appearance, and that true beauty comes from within. The book delves into the psychological and emotional aspects of body image, exploring the impact of societal messages, media influence, and personal insecurities on self-perception. Bevere offers insights, personal stories, and practical strategies for cultivating self-acceptance, positive body image, and a healthy relationship with food and exercise."You Are Not What You Weigh" encourages readers to embrace their uniqueness, value their bodies for their strength and resilience, and practice self-love and self-care. The book promotes a shift in mindset from focusing on external appearance to prioritizing inner qualities, character traits, and personal growth.Overall, "You Are Not What You Weigh" is a empowering and motivational book that challenges readers to redefine their self-worth beyond physical appearance and weight. Empowerment and freedom from self esteem issues. share with a teen in your life
This book is great for all women because it addresses the effects of society's unrealistic standards on people of all ages. A real eye opener as to where my insecurities came from and it's helped me to see how those same insecurities effect my teenage daughter. Who said that the size we are just the way we are isn't beautiful? What an empowering question!!!And how has this become an idol in our lives and taken the place of God?

This book changed my life
I know that God put this book in my path. I’m not a fast reader so I generally avoid lots of reading because it takes me forever. That said, this book spoke to me in a way I’ve never experienced before in my life. I couldn’t stop reading it. The words leaped off of the pages. I finished the book in just a few days, which is a miracle in and of itself. I couldn’t put it down. I received healing and deliverance. God has clearly anointed Lisa Bevere and the words in this book. Yes, my weight has come down, but the difference in my eating, my focus, and my freedom from self image is so much more valuable. I can not recommend this book enough!!

Life Changing!
From the first words in Lisa's introduction, "This is not a book about information, you've had enough of that,it's about transformation," you will be drawn into this book.If you are weary of the vicious cycle of losing and gaining weight, then this book is for you! If you are weary of reading books on how to be thin, how to stay thin, what to eat and what not to eat; if you are weary of being defined by what you "weigh", and desire to be more God-conscious, instead of self-conscious, then this book is "definitely" for you! You will cry, you will repent, but you will also rejoice when you discover the lies that have been feeding the cycle of defeat that has shaped your "false self-image." In the pages of this book, you will find truth, liberty, and the ability to once and for all leave behind the cycle of defeat and begin to walk in the freedom that Christ has already bought and paid for you! Standfast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. I would encourage every woman who reads this book to give it as a gift to as many women as you can. They will be forever grateful that you did. You are "NOT" what you weigh! Read this book and find out who you "really" are!

Eye Opening
I will re read this book about 5 times I'm sure. The best book on weight loss that I have ever read, but too much to comprehend the first time around (which is a good thing!)I do wish it was also available in an audiobook format.

Incredibly Powerful!!
This is a book that'll really put your head in line with the way GOD sees you.I've always been one of those people who put a lot of thought into what OTHER people think about me, when the only person whose opinions I should care at all about are God's. Lisa's book really reminded me that God loves me, just the way I am!!!Sure, I could still improve. No doubt. I'm overweight. I need to lose quite a bit. But thanks to Lisa, I don't CARE any more. I don't CARE when other people see me eating an ice cream. God knows how long it's been since I had the last one, and He doesn't mind. As long as I keep my spirit in line with Him and obey what he tells me to do and how to eat, He wants me to enjoy the bounty he provides.Lisa wrote a couple of powerful chapters on fasting, that have moved me to fast as well. And not even to fast from food, but other habits that God pointed out to me, that are an even greater weight on the soul than eating. All in all, this book is a powerful tool for getting your spirit and thoughts back to where they belong in matters of self-image and self-esteem. I highly recommend it.
