Very good product
When we received this product we were hoping this would help us and by all means it sure is. Pictures are quick and clear. Very worth getting and hubby been bragging about it since to his friends.

Solid Scope
I read tons of reviews on other products for buying this microscope and I haven't been disappointed with how it works. I can't vouch for Mac users but on Windows 10 this scope worked first plug-in and run of the "Xploview" app (required to use the camera). Here's a general breakdown:- The plastic stand is nothing extraordinary but it works fine providing appropriate lines for measurement and object alignment.- The scope wand attaches to the plastic stand via a suction cup. This cup has to be mounted in a specific spot on the stand but does so fairly easily and holds in place well. The camera also attaches to this wand by 2 swivel spots on the C-clamp. It allows the camera swivel to move fairly easily.- The camera has a wheel to adjust both the light and focus. These are easy to use and work suitably. It's best to put the camera about 1-2" from the stand to bring the camera into focus first. After that, focus is relatively easy to manage. A "touch" button on top allows the user to take quick snapshots.Pros- Tap photo button on top works great when you prefer to not go back-forth between your PC and camera.- Is stable and easy to use when mounted to the base.- Focus is not difficult and adjusting lighting works as intended.- It does a good job of allowing very close zooming without sacrificing light.- Software is extremely simple to use- Price (it's one of the better priced camera's on here)Cons- Lighting from distances exceeding a few inches is generally not useful...could benefit to be a bit stronger but not necessary in all applications.- Base has a tiny spot that the wand can suction to...could benefit from enlarging this smooth area some.- USB cord tends to get in the way or move the camera sometimes when making adjustments...maybe clamps on the wand bar could alleviate this.Summary: It's a great scope that functionally does what the description states.

A solid budget microscope
I purchased this USB microscope for the purpose of examining the primary bevel on knives for scratch pattern and to identify any damage. This scope is well suited to this task. On the lower magnification I can quickly look at the knife bevel with sufficient detail to identify any trouble spots that may need to be addressed with sharpening and the higher magnification is great for getting a clear picture of the scratch pattern. The optics seem pretty good considering the cost. On the higher magnification setting the depth of field does become shallow, but that is to be expected. I really wish there as a way to lock the focus knob into one position as it is easy to bump out of focus when handling the scope. Also, I would have preferred that the capture button and light controls were located inline on the cord like they are on the Optitech microscope that I have. It is easy to accidentally actuate the camera function. For the price, this is an excellent value and I would recommend it.

Great for coin and currency collectors
I am very happy with this product. Going through hundreds of coins and bills can be very tedious using a magnifier but this little gem allows me to put the images on screen and fly through my collection. Included are a few examples of a 1995 quarter and a $100 bill.I have only a couple small complaints but for the price and considering this is basically a modified webcam, I shouldn't expect absolute microscope perfection. The color of the LED lights are not true daylight so your colors might be off a little bit (which you can adjust in the settings), and the image tends to distort while moving the scope (which is perfectly normal for webcams). Also on my wish list is in a future version, they make the flex arm higher so we can get wider images using the stand.

Great response time
I normally do not leave reviews. I will this time. The picking, shipping and packing was above par. The Carson eflex, well for the price, I could not be more happy with it. The scope was simple to set up and the soft ware was responsive. Make sure that you have a relatively new computer. Carson could have put out the optimal specs. The suction cup is average at best. That's ok. The overall package is more than amazing for the cost. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a cost efficient digital microscope.

Great scope for the price
Overall, this is a great microscope for the price. You just cannot beat it. The subject of your image must be completely still, and you have to be very close to it in order to get a decent image. Looking at fine details is super easy. I used this for my internship, and I must say I'm pleased. Also, you want good lighting for the best images. White background is best, maybe a lamp should be on near your subject, as well. You have to download the software, but it's easy and free. I am really pleased with this product. I've attached a variety of images I've taken with it to show how lighting makes or breaks the picture.I recommend this to anyone who has the patience to focus the microscope and take a lot of pictures and sort through them later.Great buy!

It does the job for the price paid
I own version 3 of the product. I'd like to give it five stars, but the setup process didn't go without a hitch. Although the software instructions do not mention a need to reboot installing to Windows 10, a reboot was necessary for the software to find the camera -- even though device manager indicated it was installed and working. The image is a bit grainier than I would've expected while looking at the live image, but single snapshots are clearer -- lots of wavy lines in the video image. It's inexpensive. I can deal with imperfections. Hopefully over time, the product will continue to improve. Photos attached of native silver ore and autunite (uranium) mineral at 300x magnification.

Excellent Microscope For Close Up Details
A really good USB microscope. I don't know why the previous reviewer gave it only one star as all you need to do is go to their site to get all you need. Anyway...This is a USB handheld microscope that connects to your PC (I’m using Windows 10) or Mac and displays it’s images on your screen. It has four bright white LEDs to light up the subject. It can also be attached to a little stand that holds things firmly, like for viewing slides. The first thing I found was that it was much easier to move around than the other types that are a sort of stumpy cigar shape. The device is more stable and easier to handle than those.Focus and zoom are easier to change too. The bottom ring zooms you in and the top ring focuses. There is a button on top to take a photo. Taking a photo is easier on a solid surface as pressing the button tends to push down on the microscope and mess with the focus a little. You can also set the image resolution in the app that comes with it (downloaded from their site) from 160 x 120 up to 1600 x 1200. I found that the higher resolutions do slow the device down though and the image takes longer to update on the screen compared to the lower resolutions. It just tends to lag a bit. Had this been USB 3 (which I tested and it didn’t seem to be) it might have been better, but actually it’s not a huge problem. I settled on using 640 x 480 in the software to start with, these are some images taken at that resolution. The zoom for these was set at the lowest level. In summary I think this is a great little microscope and it’s well built. I paid £42 at Amazon for it and feel it was worth the cost. The image clarity is much better than the cheap cigar shaped one I had before and it is easier to use. You get clear and detailed images in a short time. These are excerpts from my full review from a stamp collector's perspective : [...]

Setting up without tearing your hair out
Just received this and downloaded the software. Plugged in to the USB port clicked on the screen icon and hey presto we are up and working. Very neat device, nice bright LEDs wide focus range and no silly claims about magnification size unlike some of the cheaper units one of which I have returned after 3 hours of tortuous attempts to get working.

Obviously used item
I was delivered a Carson MM-840 eFlex unit where the inside packaging was incomplete, the item had clearly already been previously assembled, and the snapshot button on the top of the microscope has several obvious scratches on it.I needed this item for use on the day it was delivered, so as it functions, I will not be returning it, but this is very poor practice. If I had not needed it today, I would have returned it for sure.Is this the Amazon business model - to send out returned items as new, and hope nobody complains?

Optically good, mechanically not so good
The magnification is great for what I need (counting the number of threads per cm in a screen printing mesh) but the mount is too unstable.I am currently in the process of building a bombproof mount to stabilise it, but the basic product is very good.

Decent image quality for price, useless stand.
Pleasantly surprised. Ok for the money, decent image and focus. Does not do so well on shiny surfaces though. The stand is next to useless for holding steady.
