intricate, beautiful, stylish, and vintage steampunk
i read other reviews about this item, one review said this watch was dainty; in size, it is dainty. but it's not exactly light, and not very heavy either. im sure that if you look into the details on this watch, amazon has listed the dimensions and weights somewhere, so measure them out on a piece of paper ad decide for yourself if you would consider that dainty. but that was just to address the other reviews i have read. its just about the same size as an average face on a men's wristwatch.now for my review.APPEARANCE: my watch looks pretty much exactly like the picture. a beautiful dull shine on the bronze ring on the outside. and the inner pieces look very shiny and gold/bronze/ i dont know what to call that. the hands, as you can see, are small or thin, so sometimes it can be hard to see the details of their curves in dim lighting, but it is still easy to tell what time it is. the hour, minute, and second hand are very easy to distinguish from one another. it looks beautiful as a necklace, and awesome as a pocket watch. other people in their reviews had claimed worries about their chain breaking if they were to use it as a pocket watch. the chain is small and does appear to be purposed for use as a necklace, so if you were to get this watch as a pocket watch i would recommend using something sturdier, but the chain might hold up. the chain IS made of metal, and i have showered more than 7 times with the chain, and worn it as a bracelet and did not find any green rings on my skin, and the chain is still the same color as when i received it. so i dont think its fake or painted metal. its legit. i probably wouldnt want to get the watch part wet though. it is fun to watch the little pieces move through the glass on the front and back of the watch.ACCURACY OF TIME: i have had the watch for a week now, and it holds the exact time that i set it to when i set it on the first day i got it. the instructions say to twist the knob every 24 hours; i have twisted it every 21-28 hours, so if you forget to twist it the very second you wake up every day, or you sleep in, the watch will still be fine and hold its accuracy. even if you were to forget to twist it for a whole day, it is very easy to reset the time. the instructions say to twist until you feel tension. at first you will twist and be like "uh, every twist feels tense" you will know what it means by tension because it will feel like it wants to completely stop twisting at all. be firm but very gentle when twisting the knob so that you do not break the tension spring. i have not broken mine and hope to never break it.

Worth it, but get a different chain.
When I first bought the watch, I couldn't wait for it to arrive in the mail. It arrived in perfect shape, in a nice little box inside an envelope, but the first thing I noticed when I opened the package was it's size and chain. I still think this watch is awesome, but it is daintier than I expected it to be (if only it were about twice its size). But the only thing that truly disappointed me about the watch is the chain, which I could live with if it weren't so fragile. I'm too afraid to lose or break the watch because the chain can easily get caught and break. It makes a better necklace chain than one meant for hooking onto one's pants. Because the pocket watch doesn't have a cover, I don't even like to wear it as a necklace for fear of getting it all scratched up. My plan is to buy a longer, sturdier chain (bronze tone) so that is what I would recommend you do if you plan to buy this watch. Other than that, I also didn't know anything about mechanical watches, so I didn't realize that it requires you to hand-wind it every 24 hours (which is easily done) to keep it running. In other words, you'd have to be very committed to this watch in order to keep time with it.Besides all that I really do like everything else about it; the color, the insides, the fact that you'll never have to replace a battery because it doesn't need one! And it makes a great conversation piece; people love to look at it and complement it, so I'd say it's still worth it.

Okay. You get what you pay for, I suppose.
After a week or so of use, the acrylic "crystal" has come slightly loose from the body of the watch and can rotate freely. This contributes to a feeling of "cheapness."The pocket watch dial is either made of a material or coated in a substance which in the right light looks like the rainbow sheen you can sometimes see on oils. It's actually kind of neat, but I would prefer that it not be there. The bow was a bit loose-feeling. I scrunched it together with some pliers and it rattles around less. This really was not a big deal, I stress. The balance wheel spring has an obvious imperfection in it, like it was dented on one side by careless hands. I don't know very much about pocket watches, so this could be an intended thing, but I do not think it is.I immediately disposed of the chain. It has that kind of metallic smell to it that seems to stay on your fingers after you touch it.All of that said, I am pleased with my purchase and intend to keep it. The ticking is pleasant, the weight is nice, and the innards are fun to watch. A couple of people have already told me that it looks cool. It keeps time well enough for my needs, which are not great. I only feel that the price should be slightly lower than it is.

Great watch!
I love this watch! It's beautiful, but it has its flaws completely flawless. I see a particle in a non essential part, but it doesn't change my opinion of this watch. It's really fun to watch the clock gears move. It's also a tad bit difficult to read the time as the hands don't stand out from the background as well as it could have, but it's not a big deal.I wish it came with a belt chain and not the pendant pendant chain. That's my only real complaint.Update: I've been using it for several weeks, and it seems to be surprisingly accurate. It was only like 2 minutes fast, but after a few weeks. I'm very happy. I'm looking for more expensive pocket watches currently, but it's hard cuz this guy was gorgeous and cheap and functional! Also that one paper particle I mentioned above eventually came off and jumps on the moving parts if there is static. I hope this doesn't damage the unit...They really should work in a clean environment when manufacturing these.
