Screws are supplied too attach 4x4. To attach to substrate I used 1/4” x 2-1/2” stainless

I am guessing you are talking about the concrete anchors. I use 1/4 X 3 inch concrete anchors and they work fine. Multiply .25 X the number of anchors you are using to estimate sheer strength. 2 anchors provide 1/2 inch of steel for sheer and two anchors keep the post from turning. These are sufficient in my opinion to provide all the sheer strength you should need unless you have an extraordinary situation and the bolt heads sit below the surface.
