Grace, as promised
Poems that take my breath away. In part the selected words describe the countryside where I reside and it is due to grace that I live here. Mainly it is the grace that lays hidden within each thought that seeps into my heart nuruturing it, like the precious dew that nourishes our parched soil.Levine is a remarkable poet when dealing with love, living and death. Although I know him the most through his nonfiction writing on coping with chronic and terminal illnesses and his report of his experiment, A Year to Live, what a joy to discover poetry is his true medium.

Beautiful, thoughtful poetry
Beautiful, thoughtful poetry. Every poem rings true. Levine explains the ineffable, the things that seem so deep and strong and true, that finding words would seem impossible, and yet he does it again and again.

BREAKING THE DROUGHT...A Warm Shower of Wisdom and Compassion
In Breaking the Drought, Stephen Levine makes a triumphant return to his critically acclaimed roots in poetry. After nearly forty years producing some of the most spiritually influential prose of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries (Who Dies?, Meetings at the Edge, A Year to Live, etc.), Stephen offers a collection of powerful poems as heartful, as searingly honest, as insightful, as precise, as spiritually uplifting and perceptually transforming as those of the greatest poets in history. One of the most gifted spiritual lights and counselors of our time, Stephen's work since the early Seventies has been dedicated to healing the suffering in the human mind and the aching in the human heart. He and his extraordinary wife, Ondrea, have skillfully guided thousand of people toward the unveiling of their own Inner Light. They have spent decades supporting the often unrecognized human yearning to bask and flourish in the brilliance of that Light. They have given love and compassion graciously, gracefully, and generously without expectation of reward or personal gain. Their wisdom and kindness are legendary in the hearts of those who have had the great blessing of coming into their orbit.Praised by spiritual luminaries like Ram Dass, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Jack Kornfield, and many others, Stephen now comes full circle . . . back to the simple profundity of poetic words . . . inspired by a lifetime of listening deeply to the wounds of others, and applying the one true healing balm . . . love, wisdom, and compassionate presence . . . flowing softly and freely from heart-to-heart.

Breaking the Drought: Visions of Grace
I found the title to be powerful! Seeing all the news of drought in the state of California sent me on a search on the internet for spiritual answers on drought. Strange when I got the book..I said to someone I knew living in California at the time. I got this book to break your drought...and twice a few days later...it rained. It hadn't for months where he was. Thoughts become things..... Anyway, I can relate to this man completely as I have been on my own spiritual journey as he has. We must all break our own spiritual drought from within....the heartis the healer of all things. I found some of his experiences to be quite fascinating! The spiritual awakening is a call from the heart for expansion of your mind...and uniting of your mind and heart in wisdom. A great read...always great to bring energy of someone who is so connected...into your space. These days, with the internet...we all have the opportunity to invite great people, great wisdom into our sacred space.

Refreshingly insightful
This is great stuff. Reading it, I found myself sinking in, trusting the words to take me on a journey . . . one with rich images, a clear mind, and an open heart. I particularly enjoyed "If Prayer Would Do It" and "I Sought Myself Unsuccessfully."This is poetry as spiritual teaching. Highly recommended.
