Fancy, expensive and lacks detail
I repaired every vehicle I ever owned using a paperback Haynes manual, but as I could not find one for my X3 I bought this overpriced hardcover manual. Give me a manual with a detailed "exploded view" of an assembly and I can almost guarantee I can disassemble it, repair it and put it back together. I bought this manual as my sunroof cover does no longer open and close properly, because the metal perforated guard came loose and jams it up. The manual does not even mention this particular part. I can see that a professional BMW mechanic that works on these vehicles all the time gets all the information out of it in combination with their working experience, but for the shade tree mechanic it lacks too much detail.

Not like other Bentley manuals
I have Bentley manuals for a variety of BMWs with manufacturing dates ranging from 1985 to 2007. I find this manual not very helpful. I think the vast technology and engineering changes that are taking place for the X3 make a comprehensive manual very difficult. I purchased the manual to help with replacing the serpentine belt and valve cover gasket. My 2007 X3 valve cover and its attached appliances were nowhere mentioned in the Bentley's instructions for valve cover gasket replacement. I think web searches and YouTube out smart this manual. Save 125 dollars and look elsewhere for X3 DIY help.

Mostly Useless, so much generic information.
Google search will give you more. This is BS. Not worth it.

Worth the cost
A must have if you do your own work and maintenance on your BMW. One repair would pay for this book.Detail could be better, I often go on line to get more information on repairs.I plan on keeping the car for a while so the book is a good reference, although it was a bit pricey.

Informative car manual
Bought this service manual for my son for his birthday (by his request) so he can maintain his BMW SUV. He said the manual has given him a lot of good information which will enable him to save some money on car repair.

Clear concise and a lot of reading
Way above my abilities, much of this book is clearly written for mechanics and dare I say car diagnostic electricians. Excellent value for mechanical issues and maintenance, mostly readable, however not so great for pulling apart trim panels etc etc. Glad I bought it but, having spent a bit of time upgrading my motor , this book has probably served its useful purpose. £70 is a lot for a book but worth it if you are a true home mechanic

excellent in all respects
A bit late to publish this one but well worth the wait, excellent in all respects, definitely worth buying, especially if like me you are a petrol head.
