Seems durable, but not really a project for people who aren't experienced tinting windows.
Thicker than I expected, and seems durable. If you have never tinted a window, this might not be the project for you; especially if you are doing large windows/doors. Be sure to clean the window well and not work in an area with hair/fur because the static from pealing away the coating will attract it.I cut mine slightly smaller than the sliding door glass, then I used a mild soap (baby shampoo) and water solution. It's only a small amount and you can find the ratios online. Once I had the piece cut, I taped a few pieces of tape on the frame of the door, so I'd have it ready. I laid out the film on the floor with the side that goes against the glass facing up. I sprayed the glass really well, then began to peel the protective covering from the film making sure to also spray it really well. Once the film was completely sprayed, I carefully picked it up from the top corners and placed it against the glass. Then, I used the tape to temporarily hold the film in place. If you don't the weight of the film may cause it to slide down the wet glass. Next, I worked from the middle out to remove the water, but was careful not to let the film move. It might seem like you've gotten all the water, but there is usually more. Don't be afraid to really press hard with the squeegee and do it over and over until no water comes out from the edges. As I worked, I made sure to use a lint-free cloth to soak up water. It will get a little messy when you use a lot of water, but if you don't it will likely mess up the film and look bad. A few days later, I applied a clear silicone bead of caulk around the edge of the film to bond it to the glass door frame.

Peace of Mind extra protection
So we live in a 1 story home with all exposed windows in what is now the hood. We have a security system but wanted extra protection on some vulnerable windows. After trying window bars; too difficult to attach to the block underneath, REALLY unattractive. Then plywood for an emergency; civil unrest etc... I found the BDF 4mil window film. After I got the hang of it, it was easy. We ordered a second for my Mom and Daughter. After doing a window together, my Daughter handled the rest. I read that it gives you extra minutes if someone is attempting to break in--which is enough time to get your weapon. The 4mil was perfect thickness for my application. 8 to 12ml too thick and additional efforts to apply. So for less than $100 and a bit of effort we have the extra security.

Not hard to install, but later bubbles and haze
Having used window films before it wasn't too hard to put these on. I followed the instructions and got all the bubble out from under the film. However, not long afterwards lots of tiny bubbles appeared under the film and they could not be moved. This seems to be getting worse over time in each of the windows I have treated so far. I have a lot more of the film but I am very reluctant to put on any more.
