Well made.
Great, well built harmonica. But if you are a beginner to advanced player... I think the hohner special 20 sounds better and is easier to play, also the hohner is half the cost.

I like this product and the quality is an upgrade from my last one but it does pinch my facial hair. I trimmed it down pretty short but it still does sometimes catch which is no fun. Besides that, came on time and is a good harmonica.

It was worth the price.
I bought a used Seydel Silver. It was worth the price asked. I wasn't accustomed with the brand, but wanted to try a Seydel. Very "tight." I ended up sending it in and having "low C" plates put on it. I love it, and now I own a Seydel Silver, low C, with a story to it! Great! May do it again! Thanks!

Bad 2 hole draw!
The Seydel Silver looks great and sounds great except for the 2 hole draw! It wants to bend too easily. I am a beginner and have bought several other harmonicas ( Hohner Crossover (C), Special 20 (C), and Blues Harp (G). Also, I am waiting for a shipment of a Lee Oscar (C). My favorites so far are the Special 20 followed by the Crossover. I have no problem with the 2 hole draw on either of these harmonicas so I don't think my problem with the Seydel is me. It is the harmonica itself. I guess I will have to take the Seydel apart and try to fix the problem myself if I can. I have no experience trying to fix a harmonica and hate the idea of tearing into an $88 instrument! If you are looking for a great harmonica, I recommend the Hohner Special 20. It is a cheaper harmonica and you will not be disappointed!

Love this!
I'm a professional musician but I've never played harmonica before. This is my first blues harp and I'm glad I bought a good one. It's very easy to play and within a few minutes I was all over Love Me Do, Piano Man, Bob Dylan, etc. This Seydel is very satisfying to play. I've got no complaints. If I get good at it, I might opt for a cheaper replacement if/when I wear it out. But I needed something decent at this stage. Otherwise, I'll quit before I've given it enough time.I'd buy this again. Money well spent.

Good quality sound If you can get one that is in tune
Good quality sound If you can get one that is in tone. I purchased this after buying several other harmonica us. I have bought over a dozen - hohner20, Suzuki, swan, etc. The first 1847 I bought was out of tune on the 3 and 8 hole badly, and the 10 hole also was barely blowable. I called American customer support and got typical customer support BS about how I was blowing it wrong. Therefore purchased another one and sent the first one back. The second one was only slightly out of tune on several and the 10 hole was fully blowable. Clearly side-by-side these two harmonicas we’re not the same tuning. I’ve given three stars rather than 4 because of my dissatisfaction with customer support and because for an expensive harmonica the manufacturing control should be much better. While I do prefer this harp over the other harmonicas, It is only somewhat better than the hohner 20 which is my second choice.

Quality harmonica
Before buying this harmonica I read reviews all over the net. It got mixed reviews, some saying it was flat or non-responsive. Others said it was vibrant and a great harmonica. I chose to take my chances, purchased it because I wanted a weather-proof harmonica for outdoor use. It sounds great and I'm completely happy with the performance of the harmonica. The fact that it's still hand-made and tuned in Germany is so cool. Unless you're a professional with a picky ear, this harmonica is great.
